windshield wiper pulley mechanism 1957

Is there anyone who can tell me if the pulley mechanism which attaches to the wiper motor is supposed to have a little slack in it.(with no cables on it). It seems like it needs a bushing or something. Occasionally when I turn on the wiper the pully will hang up and if you get under the dash and wiggle it then it will run fine. I took it all off and connected it up to a charger and ran it and can't seem to get it to do it when it is off the car. Any ideas. HELP!!!

Soounds like it needs a bushing. Tom and Jay Maxwell (NCRS members) do that--their should be reference to that in the archives.
