Spoke to Eaton Spring today about replacing the rear leaf in my 67 L79 convertible. They asked whether the nine leafs were 6 curved, 3 flat or 9 curved. They said there is a difference, cars came both ways. Checked mine tonite in the garage-can't tell under load. Does this really make a difference ? Any recommendations ? I do not even know if the current spring is original.

Re: C2 Leaf Spring
For your Corvette (and any other C2/C3's that I know of before 1978, if not until 1981 went fiberglass) they all had the top 3 leaves "straight" and the bottom 6 curved. This is only noticeable when the spring is removed from the car.
I'd recommend searching the Archives for info on these springs. The replacements are not (to date) entirely correct in every detail.

Re: C2 Leaf Spring
Mike,
All Corvette standard suspension rear leaf springs from 1964-1974 had the same GM part numer and all were 9-leaf, two-stage designs, i.e., 6 arched leaves and 3 straight leaves. The spring used in 63 and ones used from 75-77 were one-stage designs, where all leaves were arched. So, if you want to go for originality, you should opt for a two-stage design, if indeed your car came with the standard suspension. If you want to learn more about such springs you might take in a look in some Restorer issues from the past couple of years for my articles on the topic.

Re: C2 Leaf Spring
Going by what Gary indicated about the same part number springs being used on base suspension, I have photos online of a two stage spring I restored for my 1970 corvette. You might find it useful. http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/1970...rearspring.htm
