Nope our CH-53's were built in the 80's

I am referring to the CH-46E these airframes were built in the late 60's most of them were 68-69 I have seen a few from 67.... we still fly them regularly. The V-22 Osprey is supposed to replace this baby but that isn't going to happen anytime soon! We have about 9 of them at new river air station and I believe one of those 9 One of them has all the upgraded computer and hydraulic systems installed it so it can fly. Im sure you heard about the crashes we had in 2000-2001

The Phrog is one old airframe.
maybe that's why I like it so much

In that case, have at it. You will find overhaul instructions in any 92-96 Corvette Factory Service Manual (and, possibly, even in 89-91 manuals, as well). Parts, as I previously mentioned, are available from ZF in Vernon Hills, IL and/or one of their distributors.

One more thing, though: in the case of this transmission, you may find that there is a difference between being able to disassemble/reassemble it and ending up with a satisfactory operating transmission. In any event, let us all know how it turns out.

This is why I still love the old F4 Fantoms. Is th old A4 Skyhawk still in inventory?

Is your question about the A4M? The Navy has replaced their A4 trainers now with the T45. The F4 could still be used at the test facility at Pt. Mugu. I believe one crashed or exploded in flight on a test mission about a year ago. I came close to getting a ride in a Air National Guard F4 photo acft once, sure was wanting it to happen.

I was in VMCJ-1 & VMCJ-2. We used RF-4Bs Marine Photo Recon birds. Had several hops in the back seat....FAST & LOW.....major pucker factor to the seat.
The AF still uses the the F4 in the Wild Weasle position.
We had Chrysler hemis in some of the tow trucks for the planes, big block blue ovals in others.

OK, I'll throw in my 2 cents - I flew the A-6 with VMA (AW) 224 and 332. There's two kinds of aircraft - A6s and ground targets. Semper Fi

Re: No F-4s in the force

The Phantom II (bent-wing bug sucker) went out of the combat inventory some years ago. The F-4G "Wild Weasel" was replaced by the F-16. Yeah, F-4s rocked. I, in a previous life, did some night video of F-4s on takeoff from Clark Air Base, Philippines. At ground idle the pavement would rumble under your feet. There is nothing quite like the mach cones out of a pair of GE J79 turbojets in full afterburner at night.

The sad thing is that they do use the retired aircraft (Phantoms, Delta Darts, Thunderchiefs...) as target drones. I saw a Dart shot down near White Sands some years back. A shame for such a gorgeous and powerful aircraft to meet such a fate. It's necessary, but it's kind of like watching them crash a pristine C2 in the movies just for the visuals.

Speaking of clark airforce base it is now officially called

                            Clark air base

the philipinos took it over after the airforce left when mount pinitubo blew.

I was just down there last year really cool flying for chopers anyway!

Now my bird is supposed to be extint but it is still flying

                            phrogs phorever baby!!

Gerry's right -- I'm an active duty AF guy (stationed at West Point, would you believe it)-- the AF now uses the F-16CJ for the suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD) mission. The last regular Air Force F-4's that I know of were the RF-4C (reconnaissance) aircraft which were gone by the early 90's. It's possible that the Wild Weasels were around a bit longer - I don't know. I don't recall that any F-4's flew in Desert Storm, though.

The F4 wild Weasels were the first ones in on Jan 16,1991. followed by the F117, et al.
