    Gymkhana Suspension

How can one tell whether or not a 78-81 Corvette is equiped with Gymkhana suspension? Was there a rear sway bar on Gymkhana-equiped Vettes?

    Tony----

Yes, FE7-optioned Corvettes during model years 75-82 were equipped with a rear stabilizer bar, although the bar was different than the earlier 65-74 design. The 75-82 rear stabilizer bar, GM #351597, was 11.12mm in diameter. The earlier bar was 14.4mm(9/16"). Checking for the bar is a quick means to inspect for the FE7 option, assuming that someone hasn't either removed it or added it to the car.

You could also check by measuring the diameter of the front stabilizer bar. This bar, GM #351596 for FE7, should measure 27.55mm in diameter. The standard suspension front stabilizer will be 22.23mm.
