Re: C3 - Rear Body Mount Replacement & Paint
New frames are available from a company in Michigan I believe. A new frame might be better that fixing what you have based on what you have mentioned about about the four rear body mounting locations and how the rear control arms were so rusted they had to be replaced. I don't remember the exact general price but I think its about the same ball park figure of $3500 you mentioned in your post.- Top

Re: C3 - Rear Body Mount Replacement & Paint
The 13,500 is a lot to put in a 72 unless it is special to you or a rare 72. I would consider a trade for a 72 in perfect shape in the color I like with papers and at least a regional top flight with 0 driveing points and paper work.
Make sure you have extra NCRS eyes along to look at a Corvette as I always take someone along. One plus is you have the Corvette now as frame off and paint will lead to frame and engine restoation more bucks and nothing to show or drive waiting for work to be done. 13,500 and your Corvette should buy a nice 72.As for the prices what you was quoted was in the ball park and the total could be $40,000 And up with add ons (engine+ frame+interior)and this is just my 2 cents.Lyle

Re: C3 - Rear Body Mount Replacement & Paint
jim,
the paint quote depends on what part of the country you are in. Here in New York, to get a "mint" (read: done right) paint job can go anywhere from 5 to 10k$$ i am having a frame off done by a very reputable shop in NY and the paint quote part was about 8K$. I firmly believe you get what you pay for, and particularly believe this applies to paint jobs. Even though i paid 8K for my paint job, it is FLAWLESS and would prefer to spend this much rather than pay 3K and get a so-so paint job. just my .02 cents........

Re: C3 - Rear Body Mount Replacement & Paint
Kenny - you are rigt, the paint job cost is all about good body work underneath the paint. The paint work itself is the smallest part of the cost. Money well spent....or if you can do it yourself, labor well spent to do the prep right...Craig- Top
