1971 Stock Spoiler (Air Dam)

It's time to do a few cosmetics on the '71. Judging by the looks of the front air dam, it has met up with a few parking curbs in it's 30+ years. Although the judging manual makes reference to it, I don't recall it ever being judged at the Chapter or Regional level. I was thinking of ordering a new one from Corvette Central. Is there a very noticable difference in the reproduction? Can it be easily detected without trying to view any impressions or branding from the back side? Is there a better vendor out there for this item?

I have a 72 and bought one from riks corvette. It was supposed to be an exact duplicate but the ends have a little gap where it meets the fiberglass. Eric

The lower front spoiler is still available from GM under GM #3974013. Current GM-list is about 67 bucks. Although GM #3974013 is the original part number used in PRODUCTION on your 1971, the current part of that part number is not configured exactly like the original and there are fine nuance differences which are detectable. However, it's as close as you're going to get unless you happen to find an original used spoiler which is in perfect condition (not very likely).
