1971 Floor Mats

Obviously not a factory option, however, does anyone know what type, design, color, logos, etc., would have been on Corvette floor mats that were available from Chevrolet dealers in late 1970 through 1971? Also, is there a source today that sells anything close to it?

The mats of the day were a yellowish looking but clear rubber floor mat. Doc Rebuild carries them, as well as black rubber.

The original accessory-only mats were clear vinyl material. However, they were not originally noticably yellowish-----they get that way with age. I'm an "expert" on this one as I bought a set brand new in 1970 for my 69 and used them for years.

And, yes, Dr. Rebuild does carry excellent reproductions of this mat. Come to think of it, I think that both Dr. Rebuild and I have gotten a little "yellowish" with age, too, so it's not surprising that the mats might yellow a little as a result of age.

Now, don't misunderstand; by "yellowish" I'm NOT talking about our degree of courage. I think we've both increased on that as we've otherwise "yellowed". I'm talking about that fine patina of our complexion that is so difficult to replicate and re-create that PRODUCTION, AS-ORIGINAL appearance. A series of visits to chic Beverly Hills salons might be able to restore the as-original patina, but I don't think that either the Doctor or myself could bring ourselves down to that level.

They were a GM accessory made by GM for C3 Corvettes. I have only seen originals in black but there was a thread on this board a few months ago where some of the guys said they were originally available in clear plastic as well. Both black and clear are available in reproduction but the quality is bad in my opinion.

I agree the Black ones are soso. However the clear ones are nice.
