Question for Administrator and for Moderators - TSB Library?

I believe this would be the proper place to post this question. If not, I will move to the Technical Discussion Board if directed.
    ------------------------------------------------------------
I am proposing that there be a library of Technical Service Bulletins available on the NCRS Board to NCRS members.

I am suggesting that it be comprised of TSBs that are donated from members to the Board in pdf format, and that they be categorized by year.

My thinking is that a lot of members, including me, have a few of them here and there, but not a complete set. I don't believe there are copyright issues in maintaining such a library as far as I know?

Does this seem feasible? Especially for the C-1, C-2, C-3s. I would be happy to help in some way.

I do know that they will be included in all the manual revisions. The TSB's got quite large as the years progressed. From just a few each year of the C-1's to several hundred a year in the C-3's

The problem with some of the TSBs is that if one only has access to those which pertain to Corvettes the information is limited. There are some TSBs, particularly up to the late 1970s which on the surface appear to be general in nature but might apply to Corvettes if one looks at them more in depth. These have to do with accessory drive mounting brackets and belts, radiator hoses, engine internal parts, and so on. They are not headed as applying to Corvettes, but could. Any collection will be incomplete without these.

A Corvette hobbyist could probably do without those which apply to medium duty trucks, and diesel engines. But who makes that call? And what is their perspective?

At least on the '68-'69 revision, they should be Corvette related, even though it will require extracting the Corvette only info out of the TSB. I think as the years progress, this task will become more difficult. I have about 20 years worth of TSB's and Chevrolet Service News, and I see a progression of more info that is worthless to our hobby. I would hate to do the C-4 manuals with the inclusion of the TSB's. Can we say Sears and Roebuck catalog?

Scott -- this is along the lines of be careful of what you ask for. I can tell you the TSB, ISB and campaigns for 1967 to mid-1980s completely fill a drawer in a file cabinet. After the mid-'80s GM bound these bulletins and offered them quarterly as sets. Just the end-of-year sets fill another file cabinet drawer to get to 1993. After that (I am working from memory and it might be 1995) these bulletins fill boxes and boxes. You have no idea how much paper your are talking about. Of course I am talking about a complete set -- not just Corvette. It would be a major task just to separate out the Corvette material and would come close to impossible to print even the Corvette stuff without some limiting process.

Thanks Terry, I didn't realize there was so much information. Generally speaking, and using a 1967 Corvette as an example, would the majority of TSB/ISB/Campaigns for a '67 Corvette be in the early years, from start of production (around August 1966?) through 1970?

Or were important TSB/ISB/Campaigns regarding a specific model year (1967 in this example) still being released with some frequency throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s?
