    New Website

Why is the member log-in not available from the main page ?

The new site layout is tricky to navigate to a log-in. Any tips ?

    Mark,

We have just outgrown the old menu system. The cascading style menu gives us a lot more options without using the whole page for the menu.

The login for the Tech Board is the second item down on the Membership Services tab.

Any suggestions about the layout and the items that need to be at the top of the list are gladly accepted.

You do have to bear in mind that the Home page is directed at non members who may be potential members.

      John,

For members that find it difficult to navigate to the TDB, maybe put a button at the top marked 'bookmark this page'

        John,

I access the TDB from three computers and on all three of them I am experiencing a long delay between hovering over the Membership Services tab and having the menu appear.

Can something be done to speed up the appearance of the selections?

There really isn't any delay on my computer. I do have a fairly new system though. Anyone else notice any kind of delay between holding your mouse over a menu item and the menu opening up to reveal the drop down menu items?

John, Ihave along enough frlay that I wonder if I need to click on the member services button, I haven't timed it, but I would estimate a 5-10 second or more delay. I am using about a 3 year old computer. Thanks for all you do .

                  Tom,

A three year old computer should be able to keep up pretty well with today's web pages providing that it wasn't the bottom of the barrel when you bought it.

The more important thing is that you have kept up with the Microsoft Updates for security and bug fixes. First and foremost is that you are NOT running Internet Explorer 6. You can go to the Help link on your file menu then click on About to find the version of IE you are using. You should be running I.E.8 or if your system is low on resources you may find that Google Chrome is a better choice because it is a smaller faster browser then IE or Firefox.

IE 6 is not at all secure as a browser, and it does not comply with many of the standard html (web page language) rules. Most web developers have abandoned writing extra code into their web pages to accommodate IE6. It is hard enough to keep up with the new and innovative features as they come along without trying to also work around IE6.

Your three year old computer may need to have a RAM boost. If you have less than 1 Gig of RAM you may want to consider an upgrade. For most computers RAM prices are way down and you should be able to upgrade from 512 Meg to 1 Gig for less than $50. With that you should be able to get another year or two out of your computer.

Holding a mouse over a field and occurring a delay or lag generally means that you need to run a full system virus scan as it sounds like possibly a "tracking cookie" or a "key stroke" logger could be running on the PC. And/or reboot of the PC might be needed. Does the delay also happen when you click on a radio button or go to a highlighted URL link? JMTCW, Gary....

                        Re: New Website

Nope, the delay is only apparent waiting for the drop down to appear for member services. It happens 3 different machines and at least two of them have plenty of memory, with one being less then a year old.

I also run virus scans regularly and the updates are current.

Dennis, are all 3 PC's on the same local network? Is the virus protection software the same on all 3? Does the delay happen when you hover the mouse over the OnLine Store menu tab? Try turning the virus protection software off on one PC and let us know what happens. Gary....

                            Gary,

No, only two of the computers are on the same network and run the same anti virus software. They all respond the same way.

I tried the store and that menu came up much faster. It only appears to happen with member services and there was no change with anti virus turned off.

Gary, I appreciate the suggestions, but if no one else is having the problem, I don't want to waste your time. I appreciate everything you guy's do and the improvements have been great.
