Rate of New Posts Seems to be Way Down

There seem to be many more "lurkers" and much less posting going on. The trend seems to be continuing downward at a steady rate, and has been doing so ever since the format was changed in 2/2008.

I suggest that you begin a post-rate/hour count, and insert it in a separate field right next to the box showing who is currently "active".

    Hi Joe,
Don't know if the "lurkers" is too important.......I have an aggressive spam/virus filter that will not allow me in any way, shape or form to allow cookies from anyone without turning that filter off. Meaning I have no one click function to log in to NCRS. (OK, I know that's lazy.)
So many times when I have a moment and want to just take a quick look at the TDB, I don't log in.
There seems to be many new names on the TDB though.............
From when I joined a couple of years ago, I thought there were now quite a few more people using the forum at all hours of the day and night.
    But that's just my TCW.
    Best, Sandy

OMG, Sandy.....I'm learning more new "internet slang acronyms" every day.
So, "Today's Christian Woman" doesn't allow any cookies?
AFA the number of posts, IIRC on the "old board", I would get almost IR's from my posts. I'd have 3-4 threads going at the same time.
      Maybe nobody likes me anymore.
      I feel so lonely.
Okay, that's just my "two cents worth", FWIW.

You do make me laugh, Joe.....
I wouldn't want you to feel ignored or lonely. Offer me a cookie.

Yes, we all need a good laugh sometimes.
Right now, I'm enjoying myself by going through some very gratifying carb mixture/valve lash/detonation/leak/pilot bushing/clutch disengagement/transmission linkage problems on a fresh engine that just went into my Corvette. Talk about Murphy's Law..............squared............double prime.....deluxe. After all, what the hell else would I be doing if I wasn't debugging the nice Corvette, right?
So, I try to take it one day at a time......................one day at a time...................slowly..........slowly..... ....slowly. Then when one or two problems get fixed, another one pops up. Slowly.........sloooooooooowly. Then, a simple thing like a ruptured accel pump diaphragm sets me back another day, because after driving to all the local speed shops..........NOBODY has the GD thing in stock. So, I have to order it and waaaaaaaaaaiiiiiitttt. Slowly............sloooooooooooowwwwwwwwly, we make progress.
So, here I am, on the 'puter while I'm waaaaaaaaiiiiiiittttttttiiiiiiinnnnnnnggggggg for my pump diaphragm to get here.
Maybe I'll get to drive this car once, just once before Santa Claus gets stuck in the chimknee.

          And, I don't drink anymore.
          WTF

Really I'm not just lurking.......I run some businesses on the 'puter, so log in a little time.
Sounds like you're just having more fun than any one person should have.
Prolly wishing you were drinking again.
But you supplied the second good laugh today.
            WTF indeed.

Joe, I have thought about this issue for several days. I think your observation is correct.
I'm wondering if the increased use of "this thread is closed" has had a chilling effect of the TBD.
                Any thoughts on this?

                    Hi Ridge,

Well, if you look at the thread entitled "Spelling", you'll find more information.

Re: Rate of New Posts Seems to be Way Down

I have observed the same over the past three months, a definite decrease in postings, and a small increase over at the Corvette Forum before the holidays, both have fizzled out. I blame it on the economy. If you have no play money, stay away from the candy. We have a tendency to over react and not only become frugal, we become absent to the very things that made us once happy. Recession causes depression, we flick a switch and shut down. Sorry, didn't mean to sound so gloomy. We will rebound, we alway's do.

                        Bill,

I don't see a serious the decrease in the statistics, only December was a bit slow (app. -12%):

So no reason for a depression yet

As the archives gets larger and most questions have been talked about in the past the new posters are told many times to check the archives. If they find the answer to their question in the archives their is no need to post keeping the count down. The person also gets the infomation they want right away.

How did December last year look? It (December posts) could be down due to holiday activity and family obligations.
