I have posted twice to the Tech Discussion concerning motor oils and neither has shown up, eeven though other posts do. Is there something I'm missing?

Re: Moderator, Is There A Problem With My Posts?
James,
Posts don't always land where you expect them to. If you know how to work the system the posts will land where you expect, but if you just click the Reply button it will land at the bottom of the thread. If you want to reply to a message in a thread select the little box in the upper right hand corner of the message. That will inject it into the thread instead of falling to the bottom.
If other people are replying at the same time as you are it can get shuffled in the mix.
I did a search on the Technical Discussion Board for post by You in the last week. Two posts show up in the thread on Oils. The second one is because you didn't find the first one. It was there all along. It just got mixed into the thread somewhere you didn't expect.Administrator

Re: Moderator, Is There A Problem With My Posts?
Curious thing about being the Administrator. My screens and yours are not always the same. I keep a super secret account of my own that I can log into that is not an Administrator, or Moderator so I can check on things like this after I have made a statement that gets questioned. The box I have in the top corner is not in the regular users interface.
For you to reply to a specific message in a thread without just adding a new message to the bottom of the thread you need to click on Quick Reply Iconin the lower right corner of the message you wish to reply to, or you can click on the
button to get the full WYSWIG editor.
Just delete what is inserted into the message for you, if you really don't need to quote the other post.
Hope this is more clear than the previous answer.Administrator

Re: Moderator, Is There A Problem With My Posts?
I did locate it by looking under the folder at the end of the string. Now everyone has the pleasure of seeing my post twice. Thanks for the help on how to avoid getting bottomed out. I just wanted to make sure I didn't say something inappropriate and didn't notice.

Re: Moderator, Is There A Problem With My Posts?
Another little quick tip. On the menu above the Forum is a link to My Posts. You can click on that and it will instantly (if your not on dial up) bring up all of the posts that you have created. Chronologically most recent first.Administrator

Re: Moderator, Is There A Problem With My Posts?
Dave,
It sounds like you are getting the results of New Posts from a cache that is not refreshing. There isn't any caching on our server, but it could be happening on your ISP or somewhere along the internet path.
Try going back to New Posts after posting and when you don't find your recent post click on the Refresh button on your browser.Administrator

Re: Moderator, Is There A Problem With My Posts?
Dave, any new posts you or I make will not show up on "new posts" as the software assumes it's not a new post since we made it. The NCRS TDB forums have performed that way since implemented. Always had to look for one's on posts using "My Posts" feature. Once I make a post it shows up immediately in the thread as the bottom post unless I attached it to an upstream post. Then I click on the Technical Discussion Board blue underlined forum at the top to get back to the thread list. My posts always appear at the top of that thread list unless someone else has made a post after me. Gary....
p.s. verified with this post and it worked as writtenNCRS Texas Chapter

Re: Moderator, Is There A Problem With My Posts?
Dave,
I looked through the settings available to modify the behavior and I don't see anything related to the New Posts being shown for one forum or another, or for weather to show them to the poster or not.Administrator
