    Load Pictures

How do you load pictures if the files are larger than what this site's attachment allows? I was going to post some oil filter pictures but the attachment wouldn't let me cause transfer was too large. I'm no computer person, that's why I had kids and grandkids, but now they are gone. Help!

    Dale:
Re-size the file to 800 x 600 and it will upload fine. On my first tries at posting pictures I had the same problem but that solved it.

Thanks Jeff. Thought I would never get that down sizing down but maybe I got it. I'll try and load the pictures.

Dale, if your PC's operating is XP, then you can use the Microsoft "Power Toys" picture resizer
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/D...powertoys.mspx page down until you see it. Works great. Gary....

          Dale -

If you have Vista, there's no Microsoft re-sizer download that works with Vista, and they don't plan on providing one. I use VSO Resizer - integrates with Vista just like the Microsoft resizer does with XP, works great.

            Re: Load Pictures

I don't downsize anything, even the 12mg pictures. I just upload to:

Store your photos and videos online with secure storage from Photobucket. Available on iOS, Android and desktop. Securely backup your memories and sign up today!

Then post to the board. The upload takes care of what is needed.

Just create an account and start, there is no fee.

Harry, big downside to that is the photos posted on a photo service website do not get archived on the Discussion Board. That's one of the main reasons the TDB was upgraded was to be able to preserve the photos with the posts. Gary....

                    Re: Load Pictures

I see some "Posters" will have pictures posted right after their written description and not a seperate attachment at the bottom of the page that you need to click on to enlargen. How is that done?

I upload / post my pictures directly from my pictures files in my PC.

                      Gary,
I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to computer stuff, so if I post a picture as I did above in attached thumbnail, it will be retained in the archives but this photo (pic of car) will be a blank when this thread gets old? I used a picture from Photobucket and used the "insert image" from the "reply to thread" screen. I like the idea of seeing the picture along with written words versus having to click onto the "attached thumbnail" to open a larger picture. Rick

                        Re: Load Pictures

Rick, you got. External photo websites such as photobucket are not archived on the NCRS TDB website along with the thread/post. Photos directly attached are archived along with the thread/post. One of the main reasons John upgraded the software was to have a photo archive.

Marty, the photos embedded with the text such as Rick's which is the one directly above this post is from an external website photo service such as photobucket. The thumbnails you seen are posts direct photo attachements.

                        Hope this helps explain. Gary....

                            Gary,
Thanks for the explaination. We should encourage anyone that is posting a photo that might have some historical signifignace down the road to post it by using the "attached thumbnail" method.

                              Martin,
What I have done is "copy" my picture from Photobucket by using "ctrl C" on the Direct link box of Photobucket then come back to the NCRS "reply to thread" window, left click on post card looking image that is yellow. Then I clear out the already inserted "htpp://" by deleting then paste my image by using "ctrl V". The picture is then displayed along with your text.
