    Adding Photos Experiments

I've been experimenting with the photo upload features of our new software version. Those familiar with our previous version can see it's quite different. Here are some of my findings, and if you have anything to add please chime in. I've only done a little bit of photo uploading lately and still learning. I've also been experimenting with our new Search function but have run into a few snags. The Admins are working on that.

John W's Help file describes how to attach a photo, HERE

This allows only one photo upload at a time, and it will be inserted "inline", directly into your post. This is handy when you want to add text between each photo. You can add text to each photo in the "upload" window before it's sent to the server, but it's a bit cumbersome if you want to add details directly in your post. I myself find it easier to add descriptive text inside the post itself.

If you have multiple photos you want to upload "inline" into your post directly, you have to repeat the process above as needed for each photo. This is tedious.

We don't have a "Inline" button like we had with the earlier vB version when uploading photos. There you could upload many photos, select "All" in the Upload window, then click the Inline button to put them in the body of the post and add notes between each one.

I just experimented with a way to upload multiple files in one operation, then move them into the post, "inline".

Using the "Upload Attachments" button at the bottom of the edit window, this allows you to select multiple files to upload to your post in one operation. But this uploads them as attachments at the bottom of the post, not "inline".

To move them inline, simply drag from the attachments window area directly into the post "inline". If you want white space between each photo vertically, place the curser between each photo and hit a few carriage returns.

Another method is to click one of the "size" buttons on each photo. Inert: Small Medium Large Fullsize

Either method will insert them "inline" directly into the post. However, you cannot perform this on all photos at once. It has to be one at a time.

After the photos are inside the post, then you can add text between each one for a more sequential post with photos and descriptions between each photo.

    Here's a example....

I uploaded 9 photos from a folder on my PC. They show up in the gray banner as attachments when editing.

I did a drag and drop of 2 photos from the Attachments window, directly into the post. I then added space between each and a few lines of text. Notice they're small, same size as the thumbnails, in edit mode.

Here I used a "medium" button. It inserted the photo larger.

    Testing a Copy/Paste of a photo here.

On a PC, highlight the photo from another post by either clicking on it or sweep your mouse while holding the left click button, then Ctrl C. Then go to the new post, click in the area you want the photo, and type Ctrl V inside the post.

Gary C suggested I try this also. Thanks Gary.

Another way to add a photo from the PC is to Drag and Drop from a PC folder directly into the post.

Access a Folder window on your PC, Left click left mouse button and hold on a photo file, then move the mouse over to the Post window, then release the left mouse button in the area you want it to be placed. , like this one below that I just tried.
