Broken Links to Threads/Posts in the Archives - Workaround

It may be feasible to make this a "Sticky"....

A while ago embedded links to threads in the archives changed. Old links began with the string.... "https://www.ncrs.org/...."

Presently all Links are now prefixed with "https://www.ncrs.org/....". Note the "s" after http. "s" = secure. This method helps keep the site safe.

Example:
https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...367#post688367

If you click on the above link it will not work. It will take you to a disoriented Forum TDB header page.

The Workaround: Right Click mouse over the link. Left Click "Copy Link Address"(Chrome), or however it's done in your favorite Browser.

Open a new Browser Tab or Window. In the Browser field, Right Click, then Left Click Paste. Add the letter "s" to the "http" string. ("https")

Set your cursor to the end of the field. Hit Enter. The Link should resolve and display properly.

Below is the same link which works properly after the modification.

Thanks for finding this issue and offering a work around. We will do some research to see if the issue can be fixed so the workaround isn't necessary, but it may take a little while to figure it out.

The issue has been fixed as far as I can tell. All references to http have been replaced with https in all of the posts as far as I can tell.

Go to https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...erstrip-Issues

Try the link in there again and see if it works for you. I think you will find all of the links work now including all of the pictures that are embedded.

Pictures on Photobucket and other hosting sites may still not work for a variety of reasons.

John, Yes it's working now. The embedded photos are fixed too. Thanks for your efforts to fix this. Many users will be thankful too.
