If I may ask on this forum, how many and what percentage of NCRS members are younger than 50? Thanks

Re: attracting younger members
I was around NCRS since I was 21. but I didn't join until 29. At the rate I am going i'll never have a car judged and only participate in events that my father is attending. I enjoy this side of the hobby very much and would love to go to all the events around the country but time and money prevents a lot of things. One thing I will say being one of the younger members at meets and events I sort of feel left out by some of older long time members who feel I am not good enough to belong and judge mid years. I am not sure if its because I am young or its because I don't even own one. So with that said when I first got around the local chapter there was a few long time members who took me under there wings and help me judge and teach me about mid years. With that said that is the approach I feel NCRS needs to go in. not so much a apprenticeship program but when younger people show up show more a open arms feelings towards them. Most younger people I talk to about NCRS have all the wrong thoughts on the club due to some people attitudes- Top

Re: attracting younger members
From what I hear at hot rod shows and the like most younger people and older are wanting the look of the older cars with all the comforts of a new car. Whether it be a Corvette or muscle car they would like all new suspension and drive trains with air etc. for the most comfortable ride and a lot longer life.- Top

Re: attracting younger members
Timely thread, I just suggested to our Northeast Chapt. B.O.D. that the N.C.R.S. do more articles on later Corvettes and tout their history and success. It's important for everyone to "belong" no matter what generation Corvette they own, financial resources or age. Everyone needs to be conscious of the impression we give others as we pass on the valuable information we all have accumulated over the years. Our banner should read "Welcome To The N.C.R.S. Have A Corvette Question We Will Try To Answer It"

Re: attracting younger members
Richard,
I get your point, but, while newer Corvettes (at least some) are great to drive, mot will just be used cars, not classics like many C1's, C2's and a very few c3's.- Top

Re: attracting younger members
Im a recent NCRS member here under the age of 50. I will agree that having a forum limited to only paid members restricts the exposure of the group. Just look at the members on CorvetteForum. I might suggest making the forum open to anyone while limiting publications to paid members.Mark Edmondson

Re: attracting younger members
I am a recent NCRS member (46 y/o) and was actively looking for C3 LT1 Corvettes when the regional was in Greenville SC this past spring... I had no idea that there was a CORVETTE specific event in town which is ashame because I live within 5 miles of where the event took place.
I learned of it about a week after when I said I casually mentioned to someone that I was looking for an old Corvette.
When I tell local car collectors and even mid year corvette collectors that Greenville is hosting the NCRS National Convention next summer they act as though I am speaking a foreign language... most of all they cannot believe it.James A Groome
