    NCRS Board Minutes

Is there any place on this site where minutes of the NCRS Board meetings can be downloaded?

      Re: NCRS Board Minutes

A friend referred me to the 2016 Board minutes where Larry Colvin stated that such were on file and available. Two separate e-mails to Mr Colvin and Mike Ingham have failed to elicit a response as to where to go to get such downloads. Apparently it's Not such a good idea for some reason.

The minutes and financial statement are published in the Restorer. Fall issue on page 42-47. Financial report page 48-51. They have been published there for the past several years.

If so, please direct me to where I can find the minutes for July 2006, Narch/July 2007, July 2009 and July 2014.

Hi Loren, You are a smart guy. You understand that any interesting/controversial Board discussions occur during the "Executive Session".
You will never see any of THAT available in print. Ask about those meeting minutes!

            So much for "transparency"...

Hi, Eric. I guess old habits, like "checking the Board" are hard to change. Back then, not necessarily looking for "interesting/confiental" - found some, or what passed for "minutes" in President's columns and the like, but not under an Index labeled "Board Minutes". Still, when the Secretary of The Board states in the 2016 Minutes that they are available on line, you'd think he'd be willing to part with the directions on How To Find Them.

Hope you're emerging from the winter unscathed.

                Hi Loren,

When I mentioned that the NCRS Board meeting minutes and attachments were available "online", I was actually speaking to the Board members but unfortunately this comment remained in the "Summary Minutes" published as John Waggoner explained. I wanted to remind them that I could get them any documents quickly since they were online electronically in my files. I want to apologize for using the "online" term in this manner as I can certainly see how a reasonable person would interpret it as documents that would be available on the NCRS web site. Again, sorry for the confusion. I sent out an updated Summary Minutes document from the March 2018 Board meeting which I hope cleared up the confusion.

NCRS Board meeting minutes are not currently available on the NCRS web site. Regardless of the value of making them available on the NCRS site, the Board would have to approve that step.

I looked through a great many of my emails but I could not find any emails from you on this subject. Please make sure you have my correct email address, which is "lcolvin3@yahoo.com". I will be happy to reply quickly to any questions or comments you may have. Thanks.

                Regards,
                Larry Colvin
                NCRS Secretary

                  Re: NCRS Board Minutes

What it clears up is that the TOTAL LACK OF TRANSPARENCY CONTINUES, down to the point where there are Board minutes for the Board and "pap" to be fed to the members. You might want to check on what the state of Michigan requires vis-a-vis Board minutes and Members access. When you run across the two e-mails, you might notice that Mike Ingham, my regional representative is cc'd on both. Apparently he also honored "Board Policy" inasmuch as he has not responded either.

                  Eric, point made.

It's good to know that some things never change.
When are the next "Ohio" Region elections taking place?
I might know of someone who wants to run for Region II Representative.

                    Best wishes,
                    Eric Mortimer

                      Eric,

Speaking of transparency, how about providing the NCRS with copies of the receipts that confirm that the NCRS logo items you and your dad are selling through your eBay store were paid for by yourselves and not the NCRS.

                        Re: NCRS Board Minutes

Strikes me as a fair question, albeit one that should have already been answered. In fact, it leads to even deeper questions, as in "How would you even presume to be able to sell NCRS logo products for personal gain?" and "How would the Treasurer, the Business Manager and any other member of the Board be able to 'look the other way' and not say 'What the H__ is happening here?'" Instead, your father parts the ways with residual lease rights to a vehicle, title to 3(?) NCRS trailers, a settlement and leaves NCRS with 40K of useless assets to be written off. Now that Mr. Ingham has opened the door, there are some missing answers.

Obviously, you're a smart guy too, Eric.

                          Re: NCRS Board Minutes

                          Hi Loren,

I hate to sound repetitive, but most of the mysteries of the NCRS are answered in the "Executive Session" Board Meeting Minutes.
We have no idea why the Board gave the Suburban and two (very) old trailers to dad. We NEVER asked for them and they never explained their reasons to us for any of their actions in the past 15 years or so.

As for $40,000 of "useless assets" being written off. Again, that's a great question for your NCRS Business Manager or elected officials. When they took all of the items from the NCRS Cincinnati Office and storage, 90-95% of all of it was items currently advertised and sold through the NCRS.org store and The NCRS Driveline newsletter.

There was NO dead inventory at the Cincinnati NCRS Office ordered by either dad or me! There were a few items that likely REALLY confused the people who took over after us. These were items ordered by other NCRS employees (some ordered 40 years ago) and various NCRS Convention organizers over the years who over-ordered hundreds of patches, etc. The people who took the items from the Cincinnati Office had no idea of what they were looking at and I'm sure "blamed" dad or I for whatever they did not understand.

The only question asked of me during the entire 4 or 5 hour move out was how to mail things to foreign countries. Best of luck to you all. Never a question about processes, procedures, etc.

NCRS friends said that the "National" was just about giving away NCRS logoed items after the Mortimers "retired". NCRS went from selling clothes, hats, vests, etc. at a fair profit one day and then they were nearly worthless the next? Not to even consider what giving away $40K worth of first quality items sourced mostly from fellow NCRS members did for the future demand! I'd laugh if it were not so sad for the club.

Not sure why I cannot "sell NCRS logo products for personal gain". Is it because I was an NCRS member or because I used to work for the club for over 36 years? Dad and I have been collecting Corvette stuff for 45+ years. Between us, we have a thousand items with "NCRS" or "Corvette" on or in them. I don't plan on dying with them still in my house and in storage.

                          Take care,
                          Eric
