    Paragraph spacing

I always use liberal paragraph spacing because it makes single spaced text easier to read (I don't even attempt to read posts and are a solid screen of single spaced text.) Sometimes my text spacing gets destroyed when the post is uploaded, but I can usually edit and fix. Today I started a thread (timing/dwell angle relationship) and it happened, but I could not fix it after several attempts, so I gave up, but Don Hopper did an edit and improved the situation. I'm still using my old Win 2000 Pro SP4 with Firefox 12.0 - the last version supported on this OS. So what's changed on the server end. Why won't it accept my paragraph spacing. I expect this post will have the same problem. Duke

Sorry... also for sometimes calling you "Doug". Thanks for adding some paragraph spacing to my post. I still hope one of the PC gurus can tell me how to fix the problem. Nothing's changed on my end. Duke

      Duke-
      Not a problem.
Your dial up modem is so slow that I can delete my message before you can answer it.....
Dennis Hopper, Doug Hooper, Don Hooper, Doug Hopper.... It's all very confusing.
Win 2000 reached the end of it's lifecycle in 2010. I'm sure that John Waggoner or Gary can better answer your question, but I know the answer is that vBulletin4.2.1 is always being upgraded and it leaves your old Win2000 in the dust. And there is no solution beyond the obvious one.
I am hoping Santa is good to you.

        Re: Paragraph spacing

The last few posts I've put in I still lose the paragraph spacing on initial submission, but if I "go advanced", and wait for the download to complete before I start typing the paragraph spacing is maintained.

I can see what's downloading on the lower left of the screen. I still don't understand why all the nonsense is being downloaded from Google and Facebook.

Now I don't see the "go advanced" button. That would give me the full menu of text style/sizes, etc, and from that view the paragraph spacing would be preserved. Now that button is gone. Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

When the revised page with my above post downloaded I hit "edit" and got the "go advanced" button. The cursor indicated it was a hot link, but it didn't work, or did "save". Test Test

              Duke,

Are you still using your old computer or did the new one get setup? Can't offer much help for the Win 2000 machine.

                Re: Paragraph spacing

I put in a couple of posts this morning that worked, and I think this one will, too. I just wish I could figure out why it sometimes works for me and sometimes not.

I'm waiting for my IT buddy to get enough time to refurbish (new disk plus a modem) and set up the used Win 7 system. He's the IT guy for a small business that sells and rents portable diesel gensets. The biggest ones are the type that are mounted on 40-foot flatbed trailers.

In addition to the internet I think the company has an "intranet" to connect the two satellite offices to the main office with a private network. He's in agreement with me that things are getting too bloody complicated - keeping up with all the security-driven OS and browser changes.

We're both beginning to wonder if IT is now actually reducing productivity rather than improving it.

Happy New Year, John - see you at Laughlin is April.
