Why do the powers of be lock down threads w/o a reason??

The powers of be certainly have the right to lock down threads but a reason should be given.IMHO-Larry

      Because they can?

I have lost count of the number of forums I have left / no longer participate in because of things like locked threads / deleted threads, all done without a reason.

Respectfully request that mods step into the light and enlighten us when they do this and WHY they do this.

        Ed:
The Board and the Moderators have now gone into their semi-official "let's wait and see to see if no one comments on this so that it will fall off the first page" waiting period.
I suppose it could be extended by asking if the "separation" in March from the Mortimers is a "divorce" yet? If it is, I missed the announcement.

          Which thread was locked now?

This one is a prime example IT IS NOT TECHNICAL. Nor does it lead to technical discussion. Move it elsewhere.

Good idea. Do you have a suggestion on where to move it?

Considering that we are nearing one million postings, the hundred or so that have been locked down or deleted are a tiny fraction. As far as notifying about a post that is deleted or locked down, it is the policy that the person who started the thread or the poster of a message is to be notified that the message has been removed or locked out. We have several great volunteers who monitor the board for posts that are considered worthy of being deleted or moved to a different location. I know they all attempt to make notification of any action they take. A lot of times this is done through a private message to the poster. A lot of users are not familiar with private messages and never look at them. They are sent an email notification that they have a private message but may ignore it.
