    Ncrs email from carlton

    Hello,
I got an email yesterday from NCRS signed Carlton Colough with a "Do NOT REPLY" return. The letter was in regards to supporting a Kerbeck Chevrolet event for Toys For Tots.
I support Toys For Tots locally and I really don't need a club notice for car shows a thousand miles away.

I would like to know how to unsubscribe from being sent other emails like this in the future.

I would send Carlton an email, since he also has held the 63-64 team leader position for the past 20+ years, BUT he does NOT ACCEPT emails in that position either.
The only way Carlton responds is with a STAMPED SELF ADDRESSED ENVELOPE.
I find that very odd since every other TL does list an email address.
Anybody know how to unsubscribe from that NCRS email list?
    Thanks, Bob

    Hello Mr. Jorjorian
Moved you over to Discussion Help board for this question. Carlton is the club Public Relations coordinator and this sounds like a public relations matter, so that might explain why you received the msg. But, I did not receive it, and think I would have if it were a mass mailing to all members.
I have been able to communicate with Carlton at his listed email that is shown on the Contacts page.
    colclc@aol.com
suggest you try again with a msg to him at that address, and see if you reach him. As for complete removal from the NCRS notifications email list, I will let one of the IT Admins answer that for you,
    good luck

I believe all members received it as part of a mass mailing and like Mr. Jorjorian, thought the 'no reply' reply address was rather strange. Not typical of a PR type appeal.

          Re: Ncrs email from carlton

          Guys,

Let me explain how emails have to work with the email rule changes implemented by Internet Service Providers (ISP) in April of this year.

The Reply address must match the senders domain name. Example no_reply@ncrs.org must be sent from the www.ncrs.org domain. Otherwise the emails won't be processed by ISP's.

Check the emails sent from the NCRS Technical Discussion Board to notify you about a new post. They are from no_reply@ncrs.org

Mass Mails sent from the NCRS system such as the Toys for Tots email will be "From: no_reply@ncrs.org". However, if you click the "Reply" button on your email client the reply address should be the sender of the email. This email function is called the "Reply-To".

Emails and Private Messages sent from the NCRS Technical Discussion Board also used the no_reply@ncrs.org with the "Reply-To" email address of the originator.

Thought y'all might be interested in how NCRS emails work. Regards,

          Gary

                Thanks for the replies.
All I am asking for is an opt out option for THESE emails promoting NON NCRS events.
Its not very likely that Michael, Terry or I plan to drive 1,000+ miles to a dealership car show, so I don't think its an unreasonable request.
                Thanks, Bob

BTW ...Is TC planning to attend? :-)

                    Bob,

In the future there will not be any solicitation emails. Only emails members will receive are about their NCRS membership, NCRS Store orders a member has placed and from NCRS services such as Technical Discussion Board, on-line Classified Ads, reset-password, change of address, Chapter membership, Help Desk, etc.
