Fenci- Bogan Chev Oak Park IL. History Search

I am trying to find out if anyone in the Chicago area remembers this Maroon 62-06225. I have ownership history back to 1971 but from there I have drawn a blank.

It was originally sold from Fencl-Bogan Chevrolet in Oak Park, Illinois and I bought it in the south Chicago suburbs so I believe that it never left the area.

Sometime in the 60's it must have taken a left front hit and when repaired the front bumpers were removed and was set up as seen in the picture.

    thanks, Eric

While thumbing thru the Fall 1990 issue of the Restorer I saw this letter from Curt Gifford of Roanoke, Va. talking about his '62 Corvette he bought new from Fencl-Bogan. I'll quote from part of the last two paragraphs:

"Fencl-Bogan was in Oak Park, Illinois the dealership still exists under the name Fencl-Tuffo now in Glendale Heights. a call to Fencl-Tuffo resulted in the information they are trashing all car sales records over seven years old."

I looked in the member list and it doesn't look like Curt Gifford is an NCRS member anymore but you could try seeing if he still is in Roanoke. Bear in mind that was 24 years ago but what have you got to lose?

      Thanks Mark,

When I first received my NCRS delivery search letter, and being from the Chicago area I contacted Fencl-Tuffo and received a flat "destroyed records" comment which told me that they had received a fair number of inquiries over the years and they were used to getting questions. Unfortunately there was another dead end. Maybe someone might read this that has some other connections with F-T that could open doors.

I will see where I can get with Curt Gifford, that might be promising.
