I am trying to get information from the DMV in Wisconsin. My corvette was first delivered to Schneider Chevrolet in Oconto WI sometime after June 18,1969. I spoke to someone at the DMV and didn't get much help from them. They basically told me it was a dead end. Can anyone help me get a contact in WI to look over old records. I told the woman I would pay for someone's time. 194679S722150.ThanksDave Pisano, Dpx2@comcast.net.

Re: DMV (WISC) information sought
David, Most states will not give you any information due to state and federal privacy laws. The people who answer the phones are bound by these silly laws and you cannot expect them to just hand out info as a favor. And most states will tell you that they only keep records for 7-10 years, but that does not make any sense. Some states keep old records and will not divulge, and a few states keep old records and will share. There is one way to get an old surviving record and that is to find the person whose name is on the record. That does not help you if he is the person you are looking for but if you have alreadycontacted a former owner that person has the right to obtain his own records, and those records may include the title that was turned in from the previous owner. There is an official form that you can get online to request a vehicle record but I doubt they will send you anything. Still, it is worth a try. I suggest that you send in their form http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers/forms/mv2896.pdf, include a copy of your title , a copy of your driver's license and a cover letter stating that you are looking for any early historical records for your car. Good luck Bill Gould- Top
