I have a 63 coupe delivered to dealer 0 in zone 27 New York, NY. The name of the dealer was Chevrolet Zone Office NY,NY. I've been told ,on this board, that the zone office retailed the cars delivered to them and the reason for there delivery was staff cars, engineering or show cars. Does anyone have any information on these sales? Thanks stan 19259

Re: Info on Zone office 27 NY retail sale wanted
Vehicles delivered to the zone offices were mostly used as PEP vehicles. PEP stood for product evaluation program. Zone reps and other emploiyees drove the vehicles for a few thousand miles and then they were sold. If another employee or a relative wanted the car they got it at a steep discount. Otherwise it was sold to local dealers or sent to the auctions for disposal. This provided a great opportunity for an employee to order a car they wanted , use it as a PEP vehicle and then buy it at a discount even better than the employee discount. At the end of its in service time the employee completed an evaluation sheet to highlight the good and the bad about the car.
The zone also received vehicles for special events- Thanksgiving Day Parage, Golf Tournements, etc. The vehicles were then sold to dealers in the area at a discount.- Top

None that I am aware of. Once the vehicle was released to the dealer its sale records become part of the dealer records and are retained for as long as they feel fit. Unfortunately no one knew that this information would be valued years down the road.- Top
