I got the shipping report for my '65 and it came from the same dealer. Have you had any luck finding any information about them? I googled them and found the building where they were last located but from the looks, it may not have been in the same location during the mid-sixties. There is a person named Leon Havre age 61 in the same town. I don't know if they are related to the dealership. I'm wondering if it would be rude to give that person a call?

Instead of a call, why not try a letter first - explaining who you are and what your looking for. I had great success doing this, the sons of the original owners who ordered my car even called me. We still talk once in awhile - they sent me plenty of dealer perks. I sent them copies of the original order forms signed by their fathers who had long ago passed away. I did also include in my original letter a photo of what the car looks like today. Turns out they both knew the original owner of the car - friend of the family. Good luck.

That sounds like a great idea. A phone call could be misunderstood as some type of scam or what not. I'll give the letter a try.

If you are following this thread too I can mention your name in the letter? If the guy is 61 now and is tied to the dealership he would have only been 13 or 14 when the cars were new sold unless he worked as a wash boy firsthand information would be questionable. But who know...If I worked at a dealer when I was 13-14 I would have remembered every Corvette I touched. Perhaps a family member may have been involved also.

I would appreciate the gesture. My '66 was a Sept. '65 build arriving at Havre most likey around mid to late Oct., last 4 numbers being 2311, Nassau Blue convertible, BB....produced the last of Sept. 65 Currently I have ownership back to around '72....missing the first 6 years. Keep me posted. Trying to find my shipping report.....now, where did I put that.
