Does anyone know if Butler in Lowell & Butler in Worcester was the same family, I tend to think so.

I don't know the answer to your question but there was also a Butler Chevrolet in New London, CT, in the late 60s and early 70s when I was stationed there.

I have heard of Butler Chevrolet in Worcester but not Lowell. I bought a new 1977 El Camino at Peter Hallissy Chevrolet in Lowell in March 1977. I did not have to pay the Mass. sales tax since I live in NH.

Butler was being investigated for warranty fraud in 1974 and the person from the chevrolet zone office was found with a bullet in the head the next day Google- Butler Chevrolet Lowell MA.

The perpatrator, George Edgerly, was also suspected of murdering his wife in 1959. Her torso was found in the Merrimack river. He was not convicted due to the help of a polygraph expert who was attending law school, F. Lee Bailey. Edgerly died a few years ago in prison.

Check out the Massachusetts Secretary of State Corp filings. If both Corp have the same people then that will help you. It will also list the home addresses of the Corp Members.

Ralph, Running into dead ends but this is from an obit of a former employee:

"...Johnnie loved anything to do with automobiles. He started his long career around cars as a young teenager sweeping floors at a car dealership in Worcester. He continued to work for that franchise, through three different ownerships, Veino Chevrolet, Butler Chevrolet and United Chevrolet before retiring after 50 years of service as the General Service and Parts Manager...."

but there is very little on United.
