    Shipping Data Report Service

was wondering how many members have used this service and had sucess in finding more information about their car's past. I have a 68 427/400 that I have tracked backwards to the mid- 70's all appears to be in order, but would love to get some good hard documentation.

We have used it for Reba's '72. Found the selling dealer (still in business) and have all the NC records from NCDMV. I am getting ready to have two other Corvettes that I have owned researched. My first, 1961, and the '69 L/88 I owned. I think I know the selling dealer for the '61 and know the general area that the L/88 came from.

I didn't have any luck..mine was incomplete data..so the microfiche wasn't there or so..what I can say though..the people who took my order emailed me the bad news and refunded the money that I had paid..which I didn't ask for..they earned the money..I am sure they looked thru all the info they had..it wasn't their fault it wasn't there..so if you are worried that it wont be worth it..you really can't loose..either you get info that you don't know or have..or a refund and a nice email!

        Hi Dale,

I have two '69 cars. One is an early '69 build and the other was built toward the end of the production run. My later car's shipping documentation could not be found, but I just received information for my ealier car and posted a plea for info regarding the original shipping dealer (Unger Motors, Harwood MD).

The other Rich is right, you can't lose. I used the refunded $40 from the failed search to pay for the successful search and now I'm a little closer to closing the information gap on that car. Currently I have info dating back to the 80's for this car and have been at an impass. Any verifiable news is good news! Good Luck!

The shipping report gave me a starting point, which I didn't previously have. I know the second owner of the car (75-78) and I'm the third owner (since 1978), but the first owner (71-75) was a complete blank until I got the shipping order information. Because of it, I now have a name of a person (died in 2005) and possible relatives in the area of which I need to follow up. Bottom line - the shipping data report was of great value to me!

Although I didn't acquire any additional information, I was able to establish the authenticity (I think) of documentation that I already had. My corvette came with the original sales invoice (I was told) from Star Chevrolet in Newark NJ. Sure enough, when my shipping report arrived it listed "Star Chevrolet" in Newark NJ as the dealer to which the 'vette was shipped. Now I just need to get up the nerve to call the original owner.

            Thanks.

I just recived my report on the 45th anniversay of the production date April 25, 1966....what a coincidence! My car was shipped to O'Rielly Motor company in Tuscon. I have contacted them and they are searching their records. What is great is that the company moved to a new location just two months prior to the shipment of my car. Their are still in the same location....which should increase the odds of getting additional information. O'Rielly's grandson operates the dealership and is excited to see that the car is still on the road.

I was thrilled to get the dealer information from the NCRS regarding my 1966, however, it didn't lead to any additional owner information. Prior to getting the dealer infomation, I had a complete ownership history back to about 1975. Unfortunately my car's delivery dealership (Malcolm Konner in Paramus, New Jersey) is long gone. I did speak to a relative of the dealership's owner, but he told me that all the old records were destroyed several years ago. I was also able to talk to two salesmen who sold many Corvettes from that dealership during the 1960s and 1970s, however neither one saved any sales records or kept any notes, etc. regarding Corvette sales.

One of the salesmen did say that Malcolm Konner sold a lot of Corvettes in the 1960s (as many as 50-60 per month). He went on to say that he and the other salesman sold most of them. Neither one had any recollection of my car. That hardly surprised me. I'm still looking. At least I know where me car started out.

I also was thrilled to find out who the selling dealer was of my 1966 BB with AC and K19. That dealer was Jack Head Chevrolet in Alhambra, CA.

I knew the car came from California because it had the exhaust manifold plugged, the IM code, which is an over stamp of the IL, and the breather base which is unquie to a smog car. The car also has a California smog exempt sticker still on the windshield.

Let me say coming up with the correct carburator for a BB List#3606, exhaust manifold tubes, smog pump, diverator valve, and all the A.I.R. hoses was not cheap even some 26 years ago.

I do not have any paper work with the car, but I have talked to one of the owners that own the car while it was in California. Boy I sure would love to find the Protecto Plate and the rest of the paper work, talking about making my day.

Since I have found out the selling dealer I have placed and ad in the Driveline hoping that someone may remember the car and may still have the paper work.

I do know that the dealership is not in business any more but they did sell a lot of high performance cars. They were into drag racing also.

I also would like to find the dealers license frame if any one runs across Jack Head Chevrolet.

So if any one remembers this car let me know especially California members from the area.

Experienced a real stone wall. My 66 was shipped to o'Rielly Motor Car Company in Tuscon. They are still in the same location as when they received my car....however they do not keep sales records for more than 6 years. I am about 39 years off!

                        Dale,

You might try some of the other dealerships in the downtown Cleveland area. They consolidated some stores as they moved to the burbs. Most dealerships moved out of downtown in the late 60s.
