Zone 8, Dealer 692

Received my information from NCRS on my 1972 Corvette and the dealer where my car was sold is not listed.

The zone number is 08 (zone office in Atlanta, GA) and covered most of GA and parts of TN and SC.

I do know that dealer #691 was Welborn Chevy in SC, and the next known dealer was #698 Williams Chevy in GA so the name falls somewhere between those.

Anybody know who dealer #692 was in zone #08?

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like the dealer was Charles West Chevrolet in Maryville, TN.

The information that I received was from a late 1960s source. The address was listed as 580 East Broadway. Looks like maybe the name changed or there were several franchises operating in this general location.

It also looks like it might be time for some additional research.

Have not gone the library route yet (I just became aware of the dealership number yesterday and the dealership today), but I do intend to do just that. I had great success from library data while documenting my old Camaro.

I have also contacted two gentlemen with non-Corvette Chevrolets with docs who say their cars were delivered to Charles West Chevrolet... Still waiting for answers on both of those.

And yes, lots of searching on the web so far!

Further research shows a name change from Murphy West Chevrolet Olds to Charles West Chevrolet in 1968. The dealership is still in business as West Chevrolet in Alcoa, TN.
