    Existing dealer reports

I see a lot of people get excited when they get their report and the dealer is still in business. I would rather that be the case than not but I would be curious if anyone has got anything but the standard " We don't have any records back that far" answer. Anyone get any thing????

I got that reply on my 72 from the owner. Nice guy who wanted me to send him a pic of the car. I have traced several Camaros in years past to existing dealers and never got anywhere.

I have four cars that I know the original dealer for. Three of them are still in business. Or were. One was ten years ago. Maybe I was lucky. But none of them have anything.

If still in biz I'd ask about memorabilia from the dealership.

          Re: Existing dealer reports

Today I visited an old Chevrolet Dealership building (changed hands 5 times since the 60`s and also moved from that location 25 years ago) and ask what was upstairs so far as old records, pictures etc. It has been blocked off for years but after waiting an hour was given access to the upstairs and found among other things several thousand service records and dealer make readys for the years of 1963 and 1964. Have only looked through several hundred but did find warrenty forms for a 63 Coupe giving the I assume original owners name and address plus engine number, serial, milage (4300), paint codes and other info. It doesn`t help me but hopefully someone is looking for this info. I have posted it on this board. Also there is a approx 1978,1979 and 1980 Large film viewing machine (looks similar to a giant microfim) from GM with probably 30 to 40 large cassettes of each model car and truck in those years. It is still there as he wanted a good bit for it. Don`t give up. Mike
