Hello,

thanks to the new Restorer there may be an new trace for my information hunt.
Does anybody - may be the Dutch fellows- have any more information on the company:
Riva Amsterdam BV
which appears to be the name behind the dealer code 002 for zone 21 listed in the new Restorer.

In the January 26, 1968 issue of the Dutch car magazine Autovisie, Riva Amsterdam is listed with showroom addresses Overtoom 197-205 and Minervaplein 17.

After incurring financial losses, the RIVA dealers were taken over by Stern Groep in 1993. Following a restructuring of the dealer operations the name was changed to Merel Automobielbedrijven N.V.

Today there is an Europcar car rental at Overtoom 197. It can be viewed online using the Google map street view.

See the picture library of Amsterdam - here you will find some pictures dating back to the early 20ties - apparently a milk factory before it turned into Riva

thanks for the input. Have you tried to contact Merel since you are investigating the history of your European delivery car also and your dealer code is the same as mine?

I have not contacted Merel. Following the confirmation by the Belgium Car Register that confirmed my 1968 to be first registered in Belgium on 20 December 1969, I’m continuing the search in Belgium.

Since it appears that zone and dealer code 21 002 was used on export cars with several destinations like, GM Continental Antwerp, GM France, GM Sweden, GM France etc. I have been thinking that this code might also be a code for GM Overseas Operation in New York. See separate posting with subject Export dealer codes.
