    Mahlon Maxton Chevrolet, Inc

Just received my Shipping Data Report, and my car was built ON MY BIRTHDAY, 10/16/1962!! I was 13 on the day it rolled off the line, and it was delivered to Mahlon Maxton Chevrolet in Worthington, Ohio which is just outside of Columbus.

I have looked around and it seems there were several Chevrolet dealers in the area with the Maxton name on them, but no one is answering the phone today (MLK Holiday?). I'll try again tomorrow.

Does anyone have any info about Mahlon Maxton Chevrolet or its successor which is now an ice cream parlor I have learned.

They started back in the 40's. I believe they are now known as Jack Maxton. Hope you can find some info. Way cool the car was built on your birthday !!!!!

Tom.. I lived in Columbus from 1968 to 1999 and it was always Jack Maxton Chevrolet. If you google 654 High St Wothington Oh. where the Ice Cream place is on the map you will see Jack Maxton at 700 E. Dublin Grandville Rd. Worthington. Only a few miles away. My guess is that Jack was a relative of Mahlon and took over the business. Try calling Jack Maxton and ask for an old salesman and he may give more insight.. Bill

Called Jack Maxton Chevrolet in Worthington, and they only have records back 7 years. Spoke to the Asst GM and she was curious why they were getting calls from folks like me looking for ancient information on their Corvettes. I filled her in on the Shipping Report service and she thought that was great. I'm waiting to hear back from the Parts Manager, Mike Craig, to see if he has any old Mahlon Maxton license plate frames around.

          The search continues.

Tom.. That's great!! My 67 came from Glen Campbell Chevrolet in Williamsville, NY. They sent me license plate frames and stickers not that I would put them on the car. They are nice for display. My daughter bought a Traverse from Maxton last year. Nice people to deal with...Bill

Agreed. They were very willing to help but couldn't. Let's see what Mike from Parts says.

Spoke to Mike Craig from Jack Maxton Parts and he has nothing. Was interested that shipping data is now available but didn't have any leads. Will keep looking around libraries, etc.

The Maxton Brothers were Chevy and GM dealers in Indiana and Ohio. CJ Maxton had Maxton Motors (all GM except GMC) in Butler, IN, JC Maxton had the Maxton dealership in Angola, IN, and Mahlon had Columbus. Jack Maxton, CJ's son, grew up in Butler, IN and then after a short OJT in Butler went to Columbus. 'used to trick-or-treat at CJ's and Jack's. 'Bought all of my parts at CJ's. He was a great guy.
