I just received my Shipping Data Report in the mail today - and it lists that my '66 was delivered to Merollis Chevrolet in East Detroit, MI (Dealer Code 328). A quick google search shows that there is a Merollis Chevrolet @ 21800 Gratiot Ave. in Eastpointe, MI . . . could I be so lucky that it's the same dealer?

Like many of you, It would be nice to "piece" together our car's history. I bought my car - in Pittsburgh, PA in the summer of 1975 - and still own it. "Paperwork" was not a big deal back then, and I have very little to go with my car, so I'm trying get whatever is available. In addition to the Shipping Data Report, I also have a "Multi-State Vehicle History Report" which shows my car was registered in Pennsylvania on 2/5/70 (5 years before I bought it) - and also in Maryland (on 9/23/2003) when I registered it here. It fails to show that I also registered my car in Minnesota when I moved there in 2001.

If the Merollis Chevrolet listed on my Shipping Data Report is the same one that's still in business, maybe, just maybe, they'll have some paperwork showing who it was sold to??? Let's hope!!!

I have my shipping data showing where my car was delivered to but not much else from 1967 to 2005. Its a 67 S/N 12706. I appreciate any help.

Tom,
can you give me an idea of what the report would look like for my '65? Would it give titles from when it was delivered in Michigan to when it was sold in California and back to me in Michigan? I know it won't give names, but even years would be interesting to see when it left Michigan, etc.

The "Multi-State Vehicle History Report" is a 3-page report that lists many categories of possible problems . . . such as total loss/salvage/disclosed damage/bond/flood/gray market/new-re-used VIN/odometer/rebuilt-repaired-reconstructed/dismantled/rental/etc on page 1. Page 2 lists the title info - in which states your car has been titled (date issued and odometer at that time). Page 3 lists any Junk/salvage and Insurance info (total loss declarations). All great stuff to know - and it's only $4.95.

Not sure how to attach a copy of mine. Hope this helps.

thank you very much. One more question. Do you just order it from the link above? It seemed that the link above may send you to other companies to actually order the report. If you need to order it from another company, is there one you recommend?

You'll be VERY lucky is you get any info. Merollis is one of Detroit's older Chevy dealers and is reasonably large in scale. Michigan has LONG had a record retention policy at the State level regarding auto record archival (8 years and SHRED the documents).

So, don't hold your breath on getting further information. Be sure to THANKS the folks at Merollis for their time/effort. Plus, consider digging into your pocket to hire a private detective if you really want to find that original owner...

My 68 was also delivered to Merollis Chevrolet. They told me that they had no records that went that far back. I tried the history report. For the $4.95, the only title record they found was when I titled it in 2001. When I bought the car, it was tagged and titled in the same state that I'm in by the owner that I bought it from. So I don't think the report was very comprehensive or worth the money.

I heard back from the dealer the other day - and no surprise - they stated that although my car was delivered to them, they had no more info for me. Oh, well . . . at least I know where it came from now.
