Doug Griffith Corvette

Hello,
The earlest known owner of my '57 purchaced it in 1964 from Doug Griffith Corvette Sales in Baltimore.
He owned it till 2001 .
He told me he remembered a Delaware decal in the windshield when he bought it.
Anyone remember Doug Griffith Corvette ??

I found a little info ,via google .

Steve Griffith's father, Doug Griffith, started his auto business in 1962, opening Doug Griffith's Corvette Corner on Harford Road in Carney.
Barbara Ann Griffith, who owned Imperial Egyptian Stud Farm in Parkton, She was 77 and lived on Mount Carmel Road. Born Barbara Ann Boone in Baltimore, She married Douglas Warner Griffith, an automobile dealership owner who went on to have Chrysler, Plymouth, Corvette, Honda and BMW agencies in Baltimore, Westminster and York, Pa. The couple purchased a Brooklandville farm and began raising purebred Arabian horses.

There was a posting a while back, someone had info avalible from a Delaware Dealer. A long shot ..maybe my '57 came from that dealer ?

Hey Dana !

Just dropped you a contact that may help by PM. There was some info on the Griffith name clear into the late 90's. They may have had several dealerships. The last being a Chrysler Plymouth dealership.

It's a long shot, but a tip is a tip, let me know if anything turns up.

FWIW, I moved to the Baltimore area in 1972. I lived not far from the area on Harford road known as Carney.

I remember Doug Griffith's Corvette dealership, located on Harford Road just North of the Baltimore Beltway, I-695.

Had a lot of used Corvettes. My wife and I used to stop in on occasion and "check out" the inventory.

Always used Corvettes......not new.

As I recall, next door was Doug Griffith Chrysler/Plymouth.

Never bought a car there. They sold lots of used Corvettes back then. Don't remember when the used Corvette dealership closed.

This maybe a little late in reponse, but Chuck is right. I lived in Baltimore my entire life until moving to Florida after retirement. Doug Griffith started out as a Corvette and performance car, used car lot at the corner of Harford Road and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in Carney. He was later able to acquire a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership and built a new facility between the Corvette/performance lot and the Beltway.

Much later Doug Griffith purchased a Chevy dealership just outside of Westminster, Maryland, that changed hands at least once. I know this Chevy dealership later became part of the Len Stoler family of dealerships around the Baltimore metro area.
