Shipping Data Report, Livermore, Albany NY

I received my shipping data report today from NCRS. My '65 convertible was shipped to Livermore Chevrolet in Albany, NY. Also noted was dealer code 291 in zone 48. Does anyone know the history of this dealership? It no longer appears to exist in Albany, at least under the name Livermore. A search on the NCRS site using the name and zone turned up nothing.

    Thanks,

    Dave Brown

Try calling the Albany library and asking them to look up the albany newspaper for a Sunday in 1965 and looking for the dealers ads . They will usually send you a copy of an advertisement.

I can usually turn up something on New York dealers. This one seems to be a bit elusive for me. I came up with nothing. Let me keep poking around and see if I can find something.

        Tom,

Thanks for checking this out. I'm sure Livermore actually existed because when I did a search believe it or not I came up with a couple of obits on people in which it was stated they worked for Livermore Chevrolet. There appear to be several Chevrolet dealers in the Albany area. Do you know if the the dealer code number stays the same if the dealership changes name?

        Thanks,

        Dave Brown

Hi Dave, I can't say for certail if the dealer and zone code would always remain the same under new ownership. I believe they did stay the same, but can't confirm.

            Tom,

I've come up with an address for Livermore Chevrolet in an Albany newspaper ad dated 1952. It was located at 491 Central Ave. Taking a look at Google street level views, I can see what appears to have been an old auto service building in the rear view. The front looks like a remodeled/modified building which is now a MAACO franchise! So unless Livermore relocated between 1952 and 1965, it doesn't look like it's still a Chevrolet dealership under another name.

Dave: It would be quite rare for a facility to still exist in the same location that it did in the 50's. There are a few still around, but most have expanded, moved or built a new facility over the years. I would guess the old building in the image you see may very well be the old original dealership.

                Update.

I just discussed this with a long time dealer owner and he indicated the dealer code would have changed upon new ownership.

                  Good morning Dave,
Old post of yours I just found. I'm new to NCRS and recently purchased a 65 convertable. I just received my shipping data report and it is from the same dealership in Albany. So far I've come up with nothing. Did you ultimately find anything of value in your search?
Thank you for any help you can share.
