This is where one of my Vettes came from in 1966. They are still in business and still at the same location, but no one there knows anything about old cars of course. Anyone know anything about this dealer?

Re: Mann Chevrolet, Flora, Indiana
Michael,
I grew up in Flora. Mann Chevrolet is a family run dealership since before I was born. It was founded by Hoyt Mann in the early 30's, after Hoyt his two sons Bill and Dick ran the dealership. Both of which have passed away. Bill's son Dave I believe is in charge of the daily operations these days. Not sure who in the family owns it now.
I know in the last decade or so, they deal some of their Corvette alotment to other dealers so even if your car was delivered there, they may have traded it for a truck since farming is the primary industry around Flora, Indiana.
As for any chance of paperwork for your car, from discussion with another Indiana dealer, the salesman stated that they only have to keep paperwork for the last 7 years. That doesn't mean there's no hope for your car, but not sure if Mann kept paperwork that far back. They've been in the same building as long as I can remember and that's 35+ years.
Hope that helps,Jim Williams- Top

Re: Mann Chevrolet, Flora, Indiana
Thanks very much, perhaps I should call back and speak to some others there. Could be a chance, I have the 1965 Indiana plate with a "2" county code. I think Flora is in the "8" county, so maybe it was dealt away. Thanks again.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Mann Chevrolet, Flora, Indiana
Michael,
Indiana plate prefixes are aligned with the alphabetical order of counties. Carroll which Mann Chevrolet is located in is the 8th county alphabetically. Allen county is the 2nd county alphabetically and the primary city in Allen county is Fort Wayne.
Good luck,Jim Williams- Top

Michael
Was the 1965 indiana plate from the the original owner or did someone
put that on your car.
I have a friend whos name is Rick Mann and works at a dealership in
Lafayette,In. He is related to the Manns in Flora. I will contact him
on Monday since he is on vacation.
I also have a friend who said he had a 66 0r 67 coupe and i believe he
is also from Flora will also contact.
If it leads to something will e-mail you.
just trying to help you

Re: Mann Chevrolet, Flora, Indiana
Thanks Bill. The plate was probably put on later (I really don't know where it came from), but I guess it could have been the original one if the car was bought in Flora but the owner lived in the "2" county (Allen) when he registered it. If you find out anything, let me know, thanks again.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
