I want to thank the powers that be for the information on the shipping data.

After recieving mine, I have discovered the car was first delivered in NC. With that info, I was able to get in touch with the NC DMV and they were able to locate on micorfiche my original Title & MSO document.

It came in the mail today!

Now it is time to locate the orginal owner since I have his name and address.

Hey Todd,

With the help of the shipping report, I discovered my '71 was also delivered to a dealer just outside Raleigh NC.

I also mailed my application form for a title search in mid October and haven't received anything yet. Can you tell me how long it took for you to receive yours?

The first thing I did was contact the DMV by phone. I gave them the VIN and the approximate range of title. They then submitted a search of the micorfiche and told me it would take 4-6 weeks and to call back then.

I then called about three weeks later and they showed the information had been found and would be available. Then I sent in the form with the $10 and had it back in about 1 1/2 weeks.

The information I got back has the original application for title and the manufacturer's statement of origin to a motor vehicle (MSO).

Thanks so much for answering my question. Something has gone amiss with the application I sent so I will definitely have to call them this week to see what happened to it (assuming they ever received it in the mail).

In case I can't find the correct department, would you please give me the number you had called?

The number I called was 919-715-7000. You choose the option for title information. I spoke to a gentleman named Scott and he took the VIN and the approximate time of title application. I gave him a 6 month window of time to search within. He then sent off to the research department to find the information on microfiche. He said to call back in 4 weeks to see if it had been found. It took about 3 weeks.

Hey Todd, I called the DMV this morning
and all she would tell me is there is a
record of a long time owner but wasn't
permitted to give me any details.

Called my bank and my money order wa
just cashed two days ago, so hopefully
I'll receive something shortly.

I too just received my title search from the NC DMV and received the MSO and 4 certificates of title ending in 9/23/80. It seems that my car changed hands 3 times in the span of 6 months, I wonder what went on?

Like you, the search is now on to locate these individuals.

I want to thank those responsible for starting this ball rolling by having the shipping data reports available to the NCRS community. Without it, I'd be nowhere.

Thanks for the interest. I actually just got my "package" from the original owner. He was kind enough to send me some original pictures, copy of the sales invoice, & a letter detailing the particulars and stories behind the car.

I have attached some of the items that I now have thanks to simply getting information on were my car was originally delivered.

Next is the potential to get my hands on my original P.O.P. I have been in contact with the second owner and he believes he might still have it!

I for one are always interested anytime an owner can be reunited with their original documentation and from what you've posted, it looks like you already have more paperwork than the average owner.

I noticed the purchaser traded in a '64 2-door for this '66. I wonder what the trade in was?
