Grosse Point, Mich.-Ted Ewald Chevrolet...

...just got my Shipping Data Report. Says car was produced 5/7/68, one day later than the trim tag that says 5/6/68 which was expected.

...car is a '68 International Blue/Dark Blue Int L-79, M-21, 3:70:1 roadster, K-66 ignition, p.brakes, headrests.

...just wondered if Ted Ewald Chevrolet is still in business?

...not going to contact them or anything, just wondering if they're still there. Bought the car in 1988 in North Central Ohio, so it didn't go very far since new.

Paul, I think they went out of business when you got the car in Ohio. Vaguely I remember them. Ewald was a big name in town, look on the web, for a history of the family, but with no dealership, doubtful any records.

If you do not know the original owner, this is a pretty small community and a color picture spot in the local paper just might find your owner. Then, there is a real possibility it was someone very well off and they are long gone, FL AZ, etc....won't know unless you try.

I live two blocks away from where this dealership was. The site now has a library named after the Ewalds. The dealership was torn down about 15 to 20 years ago. Check the Grosse Pointe News, they have a fairly good archive, from what I remember. If you have any questions, let me know.

I went and looked up the library. I did not know that the dealership was gone.
I distinctly remember the dealership from 1989-90 when I lived about 3 blocks away. I drove by it daily on my way to med school.

Also drooled over the then-new 1990 ZR-1 in the dealership window, all cordoned off inside. I have photos of it somewhere around here.
