Jackson Chevrolet Westbrook, Me

Received my Certificate yesterday and found that me 66 which is now in Vancouver, B.C. was originally sold by Jackson Chevrolet in Westbrook Maine. Dealer code 280 in zone 43, Long way from home!!!

The build date of 9/16/65 is correct.

Now I know why the frame looks like it does.

I googled the dealers name and did not come up with anything in that city, must have closed down.

Does anyone remember this dealer or better yet have any pictures of the original dealership, address or other info.?

I have lived in Maine for a long time now and don't recall ever hearing of that dealership. I now live about 50 miles North of Westbrook. Beginning in the late 70's I used to frequent a Corvette store known as Ron's Corvettes in Westbrook owned by Ron Carouso. He in fact still owns a 62 fuelie that I almost bought. He is still around in Gorham I think. He still plays with muscle cars and I think brokers airplanes. If anyone would know the Corvette scene in Westbrook, he is the guy. He even might have owned your car at one time. During that era he clearly was the guy for Corvettes. Hope that helps.

I found Ron's business, Maine Aviation Sales and will send him an email to hopefully begin a dialogue.

Hopefully he will remember the car or be able to at least give me some info on the Dealer

Every little bit of info helps in putting the puzzle together.

Another Corvette person in Maine is Hanifford Godwin in Hollis, Me. Dont know his number but a search should suppy it. He was and is a top Corvette mechanic in Portland area during the 60's and 70's and beyond.

His correct name is Goodwin Hannaford, 207-929-8062. He is indeed knowledgeable about Corvettes and high performance stuff in southern Maine. He is also a nice guy and a great mechanic, keeping all of my Corvettes running including the FI ones.

Thanks for correcting me. For some reason I always get it backwards?? He was very interesrted in the 63 SWC I sold recently. He heard about it a little to late. Can I ask where you are located and what do you have for cars?? Do you know John Godsoe?? Not sure on spelling. Dave

I bought a 63 FI coupe from him in the early 80's. Recently looked at a red/red 62 fuel car that he owns. It was too much and I just bought another red/red/ 2 top 62 with the original RF motor. Bill

Just to follow up on my original question regarding Jackson Chevrolet in Westbrook Maine. I received some additional information that may help others in the future.

The dealership only existed as a Chevrolet dealer from 1964 to 1967, that is why there is so little information regarding this business.

Here is what I have to date and also received a photo of the dealership.

1964 John Jackson constructed a building at 91 Main Street and opened Jackson Chevrolet. John Jackson was President of the company and Richard Gamlin was V.Pres. & Treasurer.
In 1967 the business was sold to Halvdan Aase and he changed the franchise to Ford and opened Rowe Motors.
Sometime between 1973 & 1974 Rowe Motors was purchased by Wallace Camp Sr.
and he was President with Cliff Kilfoil the General Sales Manager.
The business is now owned and operated by Wallace Camp Jr. as Rowe Ford Sales.

I was not successful in getting any emblems today. The fellow who had a collection sold them to someone in Wells, Maine but he doesn't remember who he was. So, no luck with Jackson or Forest City Chevrolet.

Received an email back from Ron Carouso.

He said " I have no records of the 300 corvettes that I have owned, I wish I did because you are not the only person that has contacted me.
Its amazing how these cars travel. I wish I could help you.

Would be nice to find a license plate frame or Emblem from Jackson Chevrolet in Westbrook. Thanks Willard for looking.
