Dealer info???????

Just got the dealer info for my 67 coupe, which "I thought" was a California car, but the NCRS letter stated that the car was , quote,

"Chevrolet Zone Vehicle
New York Branch"

Dealer code 307 in zone 20

What does this tell me?

According to the dealer code icon above it's Harry Mann Chev. L.A. Calif.

Absolutely correct: Harry Mann Chevrolet, Los Angeles, CA. We are not quite sure how we messed that up but it is definitely Harry Mann, I will be sending you a new report tomorrow, please accept our apologies for the error.

Others will chime in who know more about the Harry Mann store, but the basics are it was famous for selling Corvettes, often ones customized with 6 taillights. I think it was sometimes referred to as the highest volume Corvette dealer west of the Mississippi. Harry Mann memorabilia is coveted by many early Vette owners here in So Cal, and perhaps other places as well, and brings big bucks in the marketplace. The store was located on Crenshaw near Slauson in So. Central LA and closed in the 80s I think. The trail of sales records for that store has been stone cold for many years.

Jahluv said... My grandmother lives two blocks from the old Harry Mann location - Slauson & Crenshaw in Los Angeles. They billed themselves as the largest Corvette dealership in the US. There is a high school at that location now.

There was a string of dealerships on Crenshaw between Slauson and Adams - Harry Mann, Crenshaw Ford, Majestic Pontiac, and a Datsun/Nissan dealership are the ones I remember. There was another across the street from Maverick's Flat nightclub at Crenshaw and Stocker - I can't remember what is was though.
