I got this information for my 65 Corvette from the Shipping report:

Dealer Code: 102
Dealer Name and Address: Book Chevrolet, Pittsburg PA

Notice the spelling of "Pittsburg" without the "h".

I tried various searches to find this dealer, to no avail.

I suspect thsi dealer has closed, been sold, changed names or???

Is there any source for closed / sold dealerships??

BTW, I entered the above information in the Dealer Zone database.

I grew up not far from there. Book Chevrolet was on West Liberty Ave. in the South Hills of Piitsburgh. They changed owners in the late 70's when it became Castriota Chevrolet. The building is now occupied by a Jeep Dealer if I remember right from my last visit up there. I am in Richmond, VA now. If my memory serves me right it was originally Ralph Book Chevrolet.

Well there is a Ralph H. Book listed. Does not give an age as it sometimes does which is helpful if there are multiple names. In this case only one listed for that state.

Not to take this off track, but I just ran across a photo from an Altoona Archives site that shows a 1950 picture of Criswell Chevrolet and says it was on the corner of 22nd street and Beale Ave and later on the home of Bill Book Chevrolet.
Altoona is about 100 miles from Pittsburgh.

Not to take this off track, but I just ran across a photo from an Altoona Archives site that shows a 1950 picture of Criswell Chevrolet and says it was on the corner of 22nd street and Beale Ave and later on the home of Bill Book Chevrolet.
Altoona is about 100 miles from Pittsburgh.

FWIW, I grew up in the Pittsburgh area. Lived in the city from 64 thru 72 while I was in college and grad school at the University of Pittsburgh.

I remember Book Chevrolet on West Liberty Avenue.

The correct address is 2601 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216. It is Three Rivers Chrysler Jeep now. I tried to find some archived pictures but was unable to. It Changed hands late 70's early 80's. Hope this helps somewhat.

I noticed that several others have been able to find more information about selling dealers and owners using information from this source.

I Googled Historic Pittsburgh Photos and got a couple of hits. I was not able to find any info or pictures of Book Chevy. The only ones I could find was of Don Allen Chevy in another area of Pittsburgh. You might try conatcting the Pittsburgh Library and speak to someone in thier archive section. They may have pictures or newspaper ads.
Also try the Bourogh of Dormont Library. Book Chevy was about 2 blocks inside the city limits from Dormont.
I contacted the Arlington, VA Library about info on Bob Peck Chevy, where my car came from. They were very helpful and is researching in for me.

Very interesting. My shipping Data Report for my 1970 L46 Roadster shows Dealer Code 103, Zone 13. The name of the dealer was Bill Book chevrolet in Altoona, PA.
