Lapointe Chevrolet, Charlotte, NC info

I got the shipping data report for my 67. Original Dealer code is 450 in zone 16. Lapointe Chevrolet Charlotte, NC.

I did a Google search and got hits but nothing dated such to indicate a Lapointe Chevrolet is still in business. I checked the Dealer Code Database and got some hits including the exact address of 531 E Trade St, Charlotte, NC 28202. I then googled that address and came up with a P&G Chevrolet. I called the number listed but it was out of service.

Does anyone have a trail/know what became of Lapointe Chevrolet so that I might be able to contact the current business (if it exists)? Did it become P&G Chevrolet? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone know if the North Carolina DMV might have records that go back to 1967?

Looks like they may have had a couple of name changes or mergers. Here's a couple names linked to Lapointe in the NC system. King Chevrolet and Allen Chevrolet may be worth checking into. Both may be gone by now.

My 87 Suburban has a bunch of service invoices in the glove box from the same address (531 E Trade Street, Charlotte NC). On 11/4/88, the dealer name was Dorschel Chevrolet Inc. On 2/15/89, the name was changed to P and G Chevrolet Inc by putting a sticker over the Dorschel name. It appears that the changeover was between these dates.

From that BBB report I PM'd you about earlier it looks like it may have become P & G in January of 1987 and since then changed the name to Parks Chevrolet.

North Carolina DMV has title information going back before 1960.

I have owned two 69 Camaros sold new there. I have a copy of the MSO of the Z28. My buddy has a 69 vette from there and has POP and some other paperwork. I don't know of any info from that that may help you though.
I remember when they were in business downtown. I don't remember them moving out of downtown ans using that name.

Keith, would you happen to know someone who worked at Lapointe during the late 60's, early 70's? Perhaps a salesman or someone in the service department? I may be able to find out who bought or owned the car that way.
