Another place to look for your original dealer !

    Hey all !!

Maybe you've noticed, I really enjoy researching the original dealers that sold our cars. They were actually the original owners of all of the cars.

I know many of you have looked for old photos of your dealer, or tried to find the original address.

I was at an antique mall today looking through some old 50's and 60's high school yearbooks. In the back of these books contained many ads from local businesses. Nearly all of them contained an ad from a local Chevrolet dealer in the area.

For an example......Check this out. From a 1961 Bluffton, Ohio yearbook. Never give up !!

I was looking thru some old programs from the Buffalo, N.Y. auto show that was held each year, and each contained a listing for all the chevy dealers who were members of the " Dealers Association " that year. I scanned each list from each year I have, 1963 thru 1967. I also added some dealer info to the data base for zone 12, state of New York, taken from the lists I have. Hopefully, I can did up more info on Buffalo & Western New York Chevrolet dealers.

I bought this 1967 Yellow Pages for Huntington WVA on eBay for $12 and it has my dealer, Ideal Chevrolet in it. It's not a big ad but it's there. PT

            Gary,
I have 2 Corvettes from western New York. One from Palmyra Motors in Palmyra which was represented as the largest Corvette dealer in the world and the other from Demeree Chevrolet in Bainbridge.
Have you ever come across anything for those 2 dealers.??

              Dave....

I haven't come across anythng yet on Palmyra Motors, but I haven't looked thru everything yet. They advertised a lot as I recall, so I might have something, but the time period would be in the middle to late 70's. If I find something, I'll PM you...............Gary

                Gary,
Thanks for looking. I believe that Palmyra Motors closed in the mid/late 70's. My car is a 1970. There is a member of this board that was a salesman there from the early to mid 70's

                    Stan,
I had come across that name but didn,t know of any connection. I tried the Bainbridge library with no luck. I,m not as interested as I was as the car has been sold.
