    Shipping Report Data - update

We think it is time for an update regarding the Shipping Data Report. To date we have processed 725 reports.

Of those 725 requests 57 have received refunds, because we were unable to find the specific VIN in the data we have. This can be due to many things holes in the data, damaged microfiche, missing data, etc. In my mind this means that 92.2% of the requests have information found.

Of the information found 42 vehicles have incomplete data, this again is due to several things first and foremost damaged microfiche. Another item comes into play which adds a new twist to information recovery that being missing pages in the GM dealer registries. Yesterday we sent out 18 new reports for information that we had recovered after discovering some missing pages and 18 individuals which originally received no dealer information now have dealer information. Will we recover more Dealer information possibly and if we do the above mentioned 42 and all future partial information reports will be updated at no charge to the purchaser as the information is recovered.

This all says that 92.2% of the requests are being answered with some information and that approximately 6% of those being answered are receiving partial information.

Your fellow NCRS members working on these requests have a passion for the hobby, the information, and the vehicles. If not the attempt to recover this information would have never come to fruition. So you should expect the results might be is a little different than what you might have received when you had someone ask someone else to look up something for you as a favor from the NICB.

Please be patient we are processing as many as we can as fast as we can, but there are a lot left to do and the orders are still coming in at a fairly brisk pace.

This is excellent, thanks. Now if you could do something about the dealerships who are still in business who treat you like an alien from outer space when you ask if they have any info on your car, and the MVDs in the various states that reject any title searches as priviledged information .

I hear you Mike, but I ran into the opposite yesterday when I went to Universal Chevrolet in Wendell for Rob Eisner. I had to wait for 15 minutes, and the owner was pleasant but did'nt have time to talk to me, but the Sales Manager came out and sat down and we talked. They may have something in thier old building, and they are searching for it now. The Sales Manager was freindly and pleasant, just like anyone in a small southern town. Most importantly they had done something like this for a person with a 396 Chevelle about 6 years ago, and he was genuinely interested.

I wish my search was going this well.

A big thank you to NCRS, Roy, the members handling the requests, contributors to the many related threads (notably Tom Hendricks), and everyone else involved in this endeavor.

Speaking for myself, this is good stuff and has really rekindled a passion in my car and its history.

Edward, you should have received an e-mail advising you of the no information found and the refund. Don't think Roy's planning on sending out letters in addition to the e-mail. Gary....

                  Paul,

Thank you so much for all your effort in contacting the dealer for me. It's just great to know that not only is the NCRS a Corvette Club, but it's much more. A common interest in Corvettes of all kinds but it's more about the people we interact with and those we can help along the way.

Even if the search comes up empty, I can only be appreciative for all your effort.

If by some miracle the search comes up positively, Paul or myself will make sure to update the membership with our findings.

                  Robert

I'm not sure what you mean by a notice sent to you, other than your email saying your money was going to be refunded, there will be nothing else.

If we held out hope of finding something on your vehicle we would have contacted you and allowed you the option of staying in the pool of vehicles we are searching. We have no Microfiche hit on the refunds, data does not exist in what we have.

Roy, Thanks for the update. You having processed 725 reports in the last three weeks has surely been quite a task. Can you tell us about how many requests you have received? Jim

Roy, I miss read your update , the 18 pages that you found new data was for the car with incomplete Data, I was thinking that your found data for some of the other cars that were like mine, With no information was avaliable.

Roy, to you and all working so hard on this project thank you very much. Much of this information would be difficult at best to find if not for this service---and much impossible to find. We often come to dead ends when others can't remember the previous owner's name and other information and we have no paper trials. 92% + is great!

Thanks again for escalating NCRS to the next level.
