Service Chevrolet, Elmwood Park, Ill ??

Wondering if anyone has heard of Service Chevrolet, Elmwood Park, Ill. This is just west of Chicago. It is no longer in bussiness that I can tell. Does anyone know if it used to be part of Service Chev. that has 10 dealerships in Louisiana,Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky,Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee. This is where one of my cars came from and am trying to get more info.

Service Chevrolet was in my neighborhood growing up. They had a small place on Grand Ave just west of Harlem Ave til 1960 and then moved 4 blocks north to Harlem and Diversy til its demise in the early 80s.
Currently there is a Walgreens and a small strip mall in its place as even this location is no where near the size of the larger places that opened in the 70s. They just could not compete with the likes of Cellozi Ettleson, Long, Fencl Tufo, and the other maga car lots that grew in the suburbs at that time.
My dad bought his cars from Service and I bought my first car, a used 66 Chevelle, from there as well. They actually were in walking distance from our house, so if it had to be left, no issue to get home. I do not think that they were part of a larger group.

Do you have an street address for them when they were in there last location or maybe even better do you have any pictures of the dealership or literature from there., even photo copies or scan would be great.

Hi Sheldon,

The address to Service Chevrolet was 2828 North Harlem Avenue.

Unfortunately, any Bill of Sales, invoices from the Parts Dept. parts I bought there are long gone.

I did check the Elmwood Park Historical Society photos and there are no current pictures listed of them inthere as well.
