    Guaranty Chevrolet in San Diego?

As suspected, the NCRS Dealer report confirmed my July 1 built, 1970 ZR1/LT1 Coupe (Bridgehampton Blue/Bright blue vinyl, 4.56/M22, etc.) was delivered to Guaranty Chevrolet in San Diego. The partial (mouse shredded) interior order copy stated dealer 183, I just didn't know the Zone# (According to the report, Gauaranty was zone 34, dealer 183).

I've read that Tom Marucci's red L88 vert (beautiful car, the last documented L88 built) was also sold at Guaranty. I suspect Guaranty Chevrolet may have had a reputation for selling track-ready Corvettes. If that's the case, is there anyone in our community who knows more info about Guaranty that might help point me to a salesperson or anyone associated with the dealership way back then? It'd be great place to begin tracking down the original owner of the car - and how it ended up in Highland Indiana!

    Thanks!

Thanks for the scan, Tom. I know you've owned an ZR2. Ed F has been a big help in confirming build details on my car. Hope to see your L88 in person sometime.

My 67 convertible was sold at Guaranty Chevrolet in Santa Ana, CA with a dealer code of 187 and zone 20. Looks like they have multiple dealerships in Southern CA and are in business today. It would be interesting to know what other Corvettes were sold from this dealership.

My home town of Delray Beach, FL had a dealership with the name of Adams Chevrolet which later became Steve Moore Chevrolet in the 80's. I'm not sure what the name is at present.

Hope we can obtain more information in the future.

When did Guaranty in San Diego begin doing business?

          Thanks!

My old 1972 SS Nova was sold on a dealer swap from Guaranty Chevrolet in San Diego, CA. I believe it was sold to a different dealer in the early 1990's. I collected a lot of information about the dealer when I had the Nova. I wish I knew what I did with those documents. If I find it, I will surely post my findings.

I did contact them when I had the car looking for more documents and such. They said all documents were destroyed. The manger of the dealer was a nice guy though and did send me current Guaranty Chevrolet plastic place frames to put on the car so I would not have to use the originals.

                  Dan,

Thanks for the complement. Even though it was a 72 SS and not a better year like 69/70, the car held its own. Great colors and options too!

                    Tom,

When I sold the car in 2007 it was exported to Norway where the new owner lives. He got the plates and plate frames with the car.

Certainly, in my travels if I find anything "Guaranty Chevrolet" I will let you all know.

                    Best,
                    Dave

I am also seeking info regarding Guaranty Chev-San Diego. My friends in San Diego tell me this location has been closed for at least 15 years. It must have been a fairly small dealership as show room was located at 4102 El Cajon Blvd and cars were actually delivered to 4144 University Ave for inspection and new car prep.

My Nassau Blue 65 Fuelie was delivered new to Guaranty in Feb-March 1965. Probably purchased by a person in the military as it ended up in Chicago area sometime in the mid-70's. I would appreciate any info or sales promo for Guaranty Chevrolet. Also looking for Guaranty Chev-San Diego license plate surround.

Dan: Just recently received dealer info from NCRS that my 65 Fuelie was sold new at Guaranty in San Diego. Just wondered if you received any additional info besides what was posted on the discussion board.

Not really small at all--just located in an area where real estate (frontage road off I-8) was very expensive--so cheaper to have a support facility a few blocks away in less expensive territory.
