Shipping Data Report Questions

I received my reports yeterday and was disappointed that both my cars contained incomplete information. My questions pertain to my 70 that reflected a dealer code of 1 and zone of 79 but dealer listed as "believed to be export". Dealer code 1 with zone 79 is listed on the NCRS site as a dealership in NJ in 1970. My quesions are:

1. If dealer code 1 with zone 79 is listed, why is the NJ dealership not listed as the delivery dealer?

2. Why is the car believed to be an export? To what country?

3. What additional data is on the shipping data report or elsewhere to lead to these conclusions?

I believe there was a facility in NJ that took initial delivery of the cars destined for overseas.

Could it have been delivered to an APO address overseas?

Corvettes to be exported overseas in the 60's were shipped to Mortenson's Warehouse in Baltimore, and that was usually indicated in the lower half of the Corvette Order. Mortenson's was Chevrolet's contractor that prepped them for shipment and loaded them on ships. Don't know if they still handled that work in the 70's.

Orders and administrative paperwork for overseas-shipped cars were handled by GMODC (GM Overseas Distribution Corporation), a subsidiary of GMOO (GM Overseas Operations).

Mikey, others -- has anyone with a KNOWN Canadian-delivered car paid their $40 for this service, and what does it show ? The code for the border transit point (possibly Windsor Ontario ?), or maybe zone 21, dealer 0000 [as seen on many order copies/tank stickers of Canuck cars]. Or, does it give the destination Canadian dealer (number and name), as appears on documentation extracted from GM Canada Vintage Services ?

P.S. will be in Longueuil Oct 20th thru 26th -- any Quebec chapter meets ?

I've not ordered the docs from NCRS as I've got everything already from GM Canada. I'll ask around and let you know if anyone else has ordered them.

Our local activities are pretty well done for the year, had a great road tour two weekends ago up to the race track at Mirabel, over to Oka and then took the ferry to Hudson for lunch at Mon Village.

The dealership database is completeley different then the report you ordered. The dealer information on the "shipping report" is only what is listed on the GM Microfiche source. It is possible that that portion of the Microfiche was unreadable. The Dealer Dbase is member generated and should not be considered 100% accurate for all dates or dealers (garbage in garbage out).

The files we are using for dealer name and location are not based on the database you speak of.

They are based on GM supplied information, there are some holes in this information we are hoping to correct, if we do the dealer name and location will be supplied to those with no dealer names as they are recovered.

Again the information we are using for dealer name is not the database you refer to, it is GM supplied.

Those with no zone and dealer number are receiving refunds.

We do not have enough Canadian deliver vehicle information to make a determination but as mentioned above most we have checked to this point show zone 21

Wow; [Canadian] Thanksgiving weekend and the fall colo(u)rs are already starting. Great shot. Another would have been the Hudson-Oka ferry with nothing but Corvettes on it .

Those with no zone and dealer number are receiving refunds.

I received my refund today. I'm feeling pretty bummed, I was hoping for any data on my Sept '65 production '66. Is there more info to come, or is this all there is? Thanks, Joe
