Not enough numbers in vin for instavin to do a search.

This VIN does not show up, as either a coupe or convertible, in National Motor Vehicle Title Information System.

That only means that no recent title activity has occurred for this VIN.

If 1966 VIN can be run, 1969 can be too. If it does not show up, is it because this car is from a non participating state? They have a help desk, email them.

                          Re: 1969 Corvette Search

There are three sites that have contracts with the Department of Justice to access and report information that is being input into the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System. They are:

                          Auto Data Direct, Inc.
Auto Data Direct offers web-based tools to expedite and simplify business processes including: DMV123 real-time motor vehicle inquiries, national title check reports, NMVTIS reporting tools, EFS metal plate issuance and ETR print-on-demand temporary tags for Florida dealers, and electronic lien and title (ELT) services.

                          CARGO Group, Inc.

                          MOBILETRAC

They all accept VINs with less than 17 characters, but I seem to recall that MOBILETRAC asks you to confirm that the VIN with less than 17 characters is correct.

Auto Data Direct and CARGO Group will lets you input a VIN and will confirm that a record exists or not before you have to pay. MOBILETRAC requires you to pay first, then will refund your money if no record exists.

As of 1 Jan 2010, all 50 states and DC are required to input data for NEW title transactions into NVMTIS. The states are not required to input previous data. Any vehicle transaction that would require a title change (sale, total loss, major damage, flood, duplicate title, etc.) is required to be reported. Annual vehicle registration to the same owner is not a title change, so this info is not reported.

Many states have been participating for years in this program, which is why there is a lot of data available. Florida and Indiana have been participating for a while, which is how the whole issue of two 1953 Corvettes with serial number 029 came to light.

Here is alink to the NVMTIS webiste with lots more details on the program.
The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System is designed to protect consumers from fraud and unsafe vehicles and to keep stolen vehicles from being resold.
