    Re: Vehicle History?

David- When you purchased the Shipping Data Report, did you bother to read what you were ordering? It indicates the following:
"The information consists of the dealer code, dealer zone number, dealer name and dealer address (if available) and the date the car was produced. No other information or any types of documents are available."

What you purchased was a previously unknown 'starting point', for the history of your Corvette... now, either you need to do the legwork, or possibly hire someone to help you. And unless you've been totally unaware, most personal info has been OFF LIMITS for decades... itz a security issue.

So where did the NCRS go wrong... is it their fault that the original selling dealer is no longer in business? Is it their fault that states no longer allow you to lookup previous owner history? Please be reasonable... your expectations were far too lofty.

When I learned about my original selling dealer (in the late 1980's), I took it upon myself to do the legwork... and even back then, not much info was available. Since Google didn't even exist, I wrote letters, made long distance phone calls, took out ads in the appropriate local newspapers, worked with the local Chamber of Commerce and sent 'flyers' to their annual car show, etc... after a few years, I successfully found the original owner.

Today, the search process is somewhat easier (especially with the internet)... but many years have passed, and so the leads may be minimal. You can learn more about the original dealer... perhaps via their local library, or getting a subscription to NEWSPAPERS.com (they may still have monthly subscriptions). What about all the local Corvette Clubs in that area, Facebook groups in that area, or even NCRS Chapters... have you tried any of those contacts?

In the end, you still might strike out in your attempt with finding the 'needle in the haystack'... but one thing is for sure, without some due diligence, I doubt the original owner is going to knock on your door. Be pro-active, get busy... as any negative attitude, certainly won't help.

      David,

Sounds like a phone call to Beaver Chevy ownership might be a good starting point since they took over Riverside Chevy relatively recently. You may get a lead on a former owner or other former employees of Riverside who may be able to help. No telling what doors that may open for you. Keep us posted.

      Good luck!
