Re: Dealer code location
John,
Welcome to the TDB. Have you requested a Shipping Data Report from NCRS?? Small fee, but you will (most likely) get an answer to your question.Leif

Re: Dealer code location
No easy answer to this one! Some dealers were loaded in the system by the dealer's first name but
most often the last name.
Also, it is most likely 20-535 was removed sometime in the 60's or moved/changed owner...etc.
It is possible this was a small dealership that has not shown up in the database for any year due to minimal Corvette sales.
I do believe that the California dealer would have been listed with a name starting with a T, U, V or possibly W.
I don't think there were many, if any dealers starting with U, but that's not much help.
Good luck with your search!- Top

John
I have had luck going through the local historical society and by looking at back issues of newspapers for car dealers ads. It would not be official but it might get you to the dealer name.

Re: Dealer code location
John, your query caught my eye.. I don't know what dealer was 20-535, but, just a WAG is it might be Lew Williams Chevrolet, at 5950 Hollywood Blvd, HWD CA. There were several very old time Chev dealers at that location, all gone long ago.. Warren Chev, 20s-50s, Lew Williams 50s-60s, and Vic Potamkin for a very short time in the late 60s. I see that Lew Williams is not shown in the dealer zone data base in Zone 20 at all. But it was there in Hollywood.. I do also see Potamkin appear in Zone 20 once (but not 535), but it was mostly a back east car dealer. Starting in Philly..
Here's a link to an article on the location.. Note at the bottom Potamkin was burned out in 1969. Good luck in your sleuthing. https://jhgraham.com/2023/08/08/5950...ren-chevrolet/- Top
