Zone 34, Dealer 283: La Jolla CA or Tehachapi CA?

I have a shipping report for a '72 with Zone 34 and Dealer 283 (on tank sticker) as George Lake Chevrolet in Tehachapi CA (Sierra Nevada Mountains). In the online NCRS database it shows multiple cars with the same Zone/Dealer as La Jolla Motors in La Jolla CA (near San Diego). The original owner of the car lived in La Jolla per original title, which is a 3.5 hour drive from Tehachapi. I find it strange the NCRS online database would show a dealer exactly where the owner lived, yet the NCRS shipping report is to a dealer 3.5 hours away. Any thoughts? Thanks, Chris

Zone 34 encompassed a large area around Southern California with the exception of the LA Basin which was zone 20. Dealer numbers changed from time to time when GM reassigned them. That may be the case here. Let us go back a recheck your SDR to see if we made an error. IF so will send you a new one.

La Jolla Motors is correct for 1972 for zone 34 dealer 283

I believe the Chevrolet Los Angeles Zone was 15 in the early 70's?

The LA Basin was Zone 20 during the 70s while the greater southern California area was zone 34. The Chevrolet Zone office was zone 15

Bob, I was a Service Manager at the LA Chevrolet Zone office during the early seventies, and had a MFG 15 license plate for my company vehicle.

Chris, Zone 34 Dealer 283 is George Lake Chev. in about 1967. Our other official data base which is dated about 1978 shows La Jolla Motors. The question is when did the change take place. If Paul or anyone else has documentation that shows what the dealer name was in 1972 we could make a change in the SDR.
