Info wanted -Anderson Automobile Co. Wahoo NE

I have recently learned through GM shipping report data that my 69 roadster was originally shipped to Anderson Auto company Wahoo NE. Just wondering if any records would be available from 1968 or 69 from this company or if it still exists today. I am restoring the car and would love to learn more about the history..

It's been a while since Anderson was in business. Maybe two owners ago. That building / dealership is now under the name of Sid Dillon. Mr. Dillon has 6-8 dealerships in the area and has a very good reputation. You might learn some detail if you call the dealership and talk to the General Manager. As I remember Mr Anderson had two sons, one was Garwood and the other name I have forgotten. I have not heard that either of the boys have passed so my guess is they are still around the area. If all else fails for you, check with the local and national car clubs covering Corvair and Vega. As I remember Garwood was into the Corvair hobby big time and he also had a soft spot for the Vega. The clubs might be able to give you some additional information. Regarding the Shriners Corvettes, my memory tells me the first ones (C-1's) came in primer and painted after delivery (pink ?). Then at the end of the Shriner story, Chevrolet told everyone no more cars in primer, they had to pick a factory color. Sorry that my memory may put you in the weeds but hope this helps. Good luck in your search.

I can't say that I ever heard of a 1969 Shrine car. 1970 was Corvette Bronze, a not very common color.

Thanks Terry for responding and another Shriners paint story. There seem to be several. I now know my roadster was originally 990 Monaco Orange, or Hug Orange. I certainly will contact Sid chevrolet. I have been in touch with another dealer in the area named Anderson. Aparently a different Anderson. Thanks again my search goes on..

I would also contact the local newspaper and their library too see what they may have in their files regarding The Anderson Co. Good luck.

I just rejoined in order to answer questions about Anderson Auto.
Sid Dillon doesn't have any records pertaining to Anderson Auto, I have a limited amount as does my twin brother.
To answer some of the questions: Daniel, I may know the 1st owner of your car, I'll need a bit more information to confirm my memory.
Terry B is correct in some of his statements, although the C1's were painted at the factory, special colors on the '60's and the '62's although we may have had to paint a replacement '60 or '62.
While '60 and '62's were the only special paint colors, the '64's were red with silver interiors and a red dash and the '68's were dark green with a tobacco brown interior, not a recommended color comb if I remember correctly.
We did order 1 C2 in primer, a '66 big block roadster and painted it a dark aqua Pontiac color.
The '69's were Riverside Gold with Saddle interiors and since all the cars had to look alike we ordered big block hoods on the small block cars.
I'll see my brother next month and will try to obtain any remaining records.

Re: Anderson automobile company Wahoo NE

I would like to throw out a huge thank you to Mr. Gar Anderson! He not only helped me Identify The original owner of my car, but also found some original dealer info. Without the NCRS dealer info and the blog none of this would be possible. If your dealer shipping info comes back to you as Anderson auto Wahoo NE, Garwood is the man to talk to. He not only remembered my car, but he helped me to verify the original options. Now I can restore it correctly. I was very frustrated in my search for a couple of months hitting one dead end after another. So if you are out there trying to find your cars history do not get discouraged. Thanks again to The NCRS and especially to Gar Anderson for all your help.

That is a great story Daniel! Also I would like to second the big thank you to Mr Anderson. We've had a number of members who have managed to trace the history of their cars as a result of the info provided by the Shipping Data Reports.
