    Shipping Data Report

    Hi Folks
My question is about the dealer associated with the NCRS Shipping Data Report. Is the dealer on the report
the one that ordered the vehicle or are they the selling dealer invoiced for the vehicle. My 64 was first licenced
by Slaton Chev. in Ft Lauderdale as indicated by the report, however the titling documents from the Secretary
of State in Florida indicates the car was obtained new from Chevrolet Motor Division Atlanta Ga.

All the shipping reports I have seen are quite generic, if there was any additional information in the report would
it be so indicated in the report sent to the requestor? Not trying to stir anything up, was just trying to
understand why Slaton would indicate the vehicle was obtained from Atlanta Ga. Any thoughts? Thanks for the
    help.

    Re: Shipping Data Report

    Richard,
The document from the Secretary of State in Florida may be the MSO (Manufacturers Statement of Origin) which is the document sent to the new car dealer along with the car. When the new car dealer sells the car, they send the MSO to the state DMV which then issues the original state title showing the original selling dealer...in your case Slaton Chevrolet. The dealer on the Shipping Report would be the ordering dealer and, unless they dealer traded the car when it arrived to another dealer, they would be the selling dealer, as well.

        Re: Shipping Data Report

Thanks for the info, The document used to register this vehicle was titled Application for Certificate State of Florida
which to me does not resemble an MSO. If you look in the lower 1/3 of the page you can see the reference to
Atlanta Ga. under the heading Dealer's Certificate and transfer. If the car was transfered to Slaton possibly the MSO
was lost or did not accompany the car? As to note the car was built about the end of April/64 sold end of Oct/64...
6 months sitting somewhere. Thoughts, Thanks

That document, Richard, is the selling dealer's application for title which would have been sent to the state along with the MSO.

            Re: Shipping Data Report

Evening Leif.. Did not think that the MSO may have accompanied this doc, ops, no copy of the MSO in
all the paper work sent by the Secretary of State. The one thing still puzzling me to understand, why
Slaton would indicate that they acquired said vehicle from Chevrolet Atlanta not Chevrolet St Louis or
            Chevrolet Tallahassee Fl. why Atlanta?
Florida sent the paper work (transfer Applications) for the 6 owners of this car starting with the doc I supplied
till it left the state in '73 to bad they missed the MSO. Guess we may never know. Thanks for info
